How will your name live on?

If you die, will there be some way for your name to live on once you're dead?

For instance, the Swedish translation of One Piece used to have a letters corner, and my letter got published, so now as long as One Piece books are sold in Sweden my name and my words shall not perish but have eternal life. So manga is kind of like Jesus in this context, which anyway is what I've always said.

How about you? Were you an extra in a Hollywood movie, so that your likeness will last forever in the background of (for instance) The Amazing Spider-Man? Or are you the governor of somewhere, so that you'll always be a minor historicl figure? In short, will you live on after death, and if so, how?

I draw/design buildings for a living (not an architect but close), my name/initials are on a whole lot of building permit requests. So as long as those are kept in the local archives I'm set... I think...

Before I die I shall setup an elaborate treasure hunt.
At the very end would be a chest, inside would be a letter that states.
Welp congratulations!
Everybody else probably gave up but not you!
So now I bet you expect a big reward yeah?
Too bad! this was all so I shall be remembered!
And then bury all my life savings just a bit west of that chest, see how things turn out.

I hope one day to start a charity/non-profit foundation, provided I amass sufficient wealth. Everyone also says I'll discover something scientifically important one of this days, so that's an option too.

I'm going to blow up the moon. That way whenever anyone looks up into the night sky or thinks about the terrible consequences that my actions inflicted on the world, they will think of me.

Or I'll start a new religion based around Nathan Drake.

Or for leading the human resistance to victory when the fish rise up against us (this may or may not involve blowing up the moon).

Or maybe I'll just die unknown of a heart attack aged 57.

Who knows?

Well, I hope to become a successful writer...that's about it. If that doesn't plan out, I guess I'll just live and die, and then be forgotten by everyone once they all die too.

I won the title of Rookie of the Year 2012 at one of Stockholm's best pole dance/fitness studios. Video is on their Facebook page. Does that count?

I also gave my entire collection of drawings (everything good I've ever created from ages 12 to 20) to my best friend. As long as those remain, I suppose my name in the corner will too.

I checked on Facebook and there's a lot of people with the same first and last name as me.
My name already lives on.

It probably won't.
Not in anything meaningful way anyway.
I'm also not quite sure why it matters to people.

I am in the records of my State for eternity for completing an eagle scout project. (I am in one of the addresses). I have the equivalent of a statue, a very obscure statue.

Well I am a game developer so there is that. Hopefully I can create something in the same respects as the greats.

I am working on earning a BS degree in mechanical and ISYS engineering, intend to go to graduate school for a Masters in aerospace, and my primary ambition at the moment is to design products that will change human lives for decades or even centuries down the road.

If my name fails to live on in some form, even if only in terms of patent ownership, it will be because I wasn't trying ...or because I bit off more than I could chew and fell flat on my face early in the game, but that's the risk of going big.

As for right this moment, there is nothing I can think of that ties my name to anything widespread enough to really count. Shortly I may have something of the sort as a winner/runnerup in a national remote operated vehicle design competition, but I have yet to see the opposing submissions, so have only a vague idea of the odds there.

I'm planning on turning evil and becoming a Batman like super villian. That ought to make people remember me.

I was in a load of BBC Radio 4 afternoon plays as well as a few roles in TV shows. While I was no big time actor, as long as copies of those plays and shows survive, my voice, pre-adolescent appearance and name will live on forever.

Of course, I'll also build a 200ft-tall marble replica of my penis upon the highest peak in the Alps.

You may want to blow up the moon before you start that religion too. The "devolved" humans will probably be more receptive to your glorification of the #1 joke-cracking homicidal maniac.

Pretty much this. I am satisfied being among the more than 99% of the forgotten people of the world. I don't do the things I do because they will make people remember me. I do what I do in order to live my life as well as I can.

I can be seen in a youtube movie that has about 100 views (I am the main guy though) so yeah, no-one will ever remember me and I am perfectly fine with that.

Not in the way I'd like. I'd prefer affecting someone's life rather than my name being recorded for no reason than simply for the sake of it. All I have under my belt now is that I've participated in several county chess championships, winning all of them.

It won't. Almost no-one gets remembered. Frankly people only remember about 5 presidents out of the 51 there are. None of the celebrities will be remembered, so how will an average joe like me be remembered?
