You are given the chance to play the latest Metal Gear Solid. Naturally, you think it's a pretty sweet deal.
You pop the game in, let everything load up and are treated to an amazing cinematic.
You are pumped, you press 'Start' to begin the story mode.
You are treated to another amazing cutscene. The best you've seen yet. You cannot WAIT to actually play the game.
After the cutscene ends, you are treated to yet another amazing cutscene. You are still pumped but really want to play the game.
Yet again, another cutscene, but it was even better than the one that came before it. You start to accept that a few cutscenes might not be so bad.
Once more, you are treated to another cutscene, and it was somehow even better than the one that came before it. You're excited but would really like to play the game.
This pattern continues until the end of time. The quality of the cutscenes increase with every new one, encouraging you to watch through them but there is never actual gameplay. You never become jaded, and even though you feel pleasure, the excess of pleasure eventually turns into excruciating pain.
