This, except I die from a hollow-point sniper round to the head and my death motivates my squad to eventually succeed. I die a martyr, the killer is viewed as 'cheap' (hopefully) and we accomplish what we set out to do...even in death.

EDIT: Hollow point round because it would (more-or-less) cause this:

No surviving that, and probably instantaneous and painless.

Basically the main character dies at the top of a canyon having just helped reunite Solomon and his son and all sorts of other good stuff. The point is that he dies in peace in a beautiful place. Which i like.
