Lets say a death angel came to visit you and said,

"I'll grant you one wish, but that wish must be used to end the world in one way or another, so make your choice."

How would you end the world?

Personally, I would like everyone to explode when I point at them.

"Hey Frank!"

"Hey Joe! Say, whats that on your shirt!" *Point*

BAM!

Easy... I'd wait until I had children and then make it so that humans could no longer reproduce.
Within 2 years abortion would have no purpose, letting the protestors shutup. Within 5 years people would have realized the importance of the children there are currently, and focus on them. In 10 years food shortages would be all but non-existant. During all this time, people would realize that the human race is coming to an end, and the humans will do their best to return the planet to the way it was before we appeared. In 18 years, there would be no underage crime, and with no more need for public schools, the governments could focus on programs that help the remaining people and restore the planet. This would continue until the very last humans looked back and contemplate the effects of the last 100 years, whether or not they did their job and fixed the planet. And then... the last human being will die, hopefully peacefully. As Nature takes the planet back, all traces of human existence will slowly disappear, even plastics, which are supposedly infinite, will be eaten by bacteria adapted to devour the abundant food source. That, to me, is the perfect end to the world.

Have you read The World Without Us? Also I would choose for the planet to burn just so I can say "Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust".

No we're not...

I would end the Earth the way its meant to end, when our sun expands as it starts fusing helium in its core rather than hydrogen. By that stage humanity will be far far away amongst the stars somewhere so it doesn't matter that Earth has been destroyed.

Oh that's easy. War with aliens. I get to pull a Master Cheif while defending human kind.
Me thinks you'll be going the way of one Dan Fortesque. Well, when he was alive.

I don't know about that. Normally I'm not very attached to anything, however I find Earth to be very special. It's our home, our planet of origin. Yeah there might be dozens of planets that support life out in the big galaxy but none would be as important to humans as Earth.

If I ever did live long enough to see the sun destroy the Earth I would be heart broken, even if it is a natural process.

My plan would require a lot of Particle Beam Cannons and advanced Nuclear/Atomic weaponry... I'd make it end with a bang.

It would be sad yes... but inevitable so we'd have to leave. In the Prelude to Dune series humanity deliberately steriles earth with a massive nuclear holocaust in an attack against the AI creations which had taken over it - that was an amazing end for our planet.

Wrong. There are two 'treatments' that they call it.

amiflu (oseltamivir) or Relenza (zanamivir)

Anywho, I'd end it by zombies. But before I wished it to happen. Included in my wish would be non-perishable foods and tons of water. A well barricaded place and enough ammunition and equipment to kill a bunch of zombies. Reason why I say a bunch. Because eventually I'd get bored and stop and just watch DVD's or something. Have my girlfriend to have secksi time with everynow and then. Then my kid would help me kill zombies.
