I would adorn myself with the ancient clothing of the plague doctors, and as I infect people, I also cure them. For a price.
It would be a dark age, rats and other vermin strive about. The constant buzzing of flies lingers in the air. It would be just like in medieval Europe, when the Black Plague struck.
My plague would be the same, but with devastating differences. The plague would be just like any other common disease; coughs, runny noses, etcetera, etcetera.. But then there would be vomiting, people puking their innards out. They would soon become riddled with tumors and boils, their organs being expelled from their bodies, while the muscle, bone, and skin just turns into useless fat.. They shall become sterile, nothing but large sacks of flesh and fat, lying in the dirty streets, dead..
Then the horrible part of the plague kicks in.. As the rats, fleas and other pests feast upon the dead corpses, they slowly become merged with them. The dead bodies shed their skins and fat, becoming nothing but bone. The vermin that are merged with the bodies entangle their intestines and organs around the shambling skeletons, making them into puppets that lumber through the streets. Then, they would seek the survivors out, ever adapting, and adding the dead organs of others onto their own rickety frame...

Well, I was asking my brother about that, and apparently as it begins to fuse other elements other than hydrogen, it loses mass at its core (don't ask how, my brother knows), reducing its gravitation pull. So even though the sun is expanding, we actually drift away from it, so the sun does come extremely close to engulfing us, but it doesn't. It just fries us. Mega fries us. We end up a only a few hundred thousand kilometers away from it!Inverse Skies said:No we're not...danskrobut said:too bad it doesn't matter we're all going to die from swine flu anyways
I would end the Earth the way its meant to end, when our sun expands as it starts fusing helium in its core rather than hydrogen. By that stage humanity will be far far away amongst the stars somewhere so it doesn't matter that Earth has been destroyed.
Yeah it engulfs Venus and Mercury and just burns us to a crisp. It loses mass as it begins to fuse elements into heavier nuclei a slight amount of mass is lost and converted into energy (E=mc^2), hence the fusion of helium leads to more mass lost and more energy produced, hence why the sun expands.Beefcakes said:Well, I was asking my brother about that, and apparently as it begins to fuse other elements other than hydrogen, it loses mass at its core (don't ask how, my brother knows), reducing its gravitation pull. Anyway, death of the planet... death of the planet...
I would abolish all laws and repercussions
That would end it pretty quickly I would think

You assume humans will still exist ten billions years from now. It is highly likely that either humans will evolve to an entirely new species or something else will evolve to replace us.
The sun is halfway through its lifespan of 10 billion years, hence humanity has to last for another 5 billion. Also highly unlikely? You're saying humanity is going to keep going because nothing new will evolve to challenge us? Your wording has confused me slightly...Rigs83 said:You assume humans will still exist ten billions years from now. Ahhh, I wondered why it didn't read correctly, likely, fair enough.Rigs83 said:Yeah just edited it to likely.
And I place my money on machines replacing people. Not like Terminator or The Matrix but a calmer almost zen-like fusion of the two.
I have heard one theory that by the end of this century mankind will create a near perfect recreation of the human brain within a computer simulation with near infinite storage capacity enticing people to transfer a copy of their conscience to this simulation effectively becoming immortal thus allowing humanity to truly travel beyond the solar system. Mankind will no longer need to physically reproduce so we'll forge ahead to the stars leaving behind backup copies of ourselves on Earth doing the hard work of repairing the damage we have done.
And we all will be good and happy tomatoes.

Ironically, your end of the human race would be the rebirth of the world.Mookie_Magnus said:Easy... I'd wait until I had children and then make it so that humans could no longer reproduce.
Within 2 years abortion would have no purpose, letting the protestors shutup. Within 5 years people would have realized the importance of the children there are currently, and focus on them. In 10 years food shortages would be all but non-existant. During all this time, people would realize that the human race is coming to an end, and the humans will do their best to return the planet to the way it was before we appeared. In 18 years, there would be no underage crime, and with no more need for public schools, the governments could focus on programs that help the remaining people and restore the planet. This would continue until the very last humans looked back and contemplate the effects of the last 100 years, whether or not they did their job and fixed the planet. And then... the last human being will die, hopefully peacefully. As Nature takes the planet back, all traces of human existence will slowly disappear, even plastics, which are supposedly infinite, will be eaten by bacteria adapted to devour the abundant food source. That, to me, is the perfect end to the world.
Well who would have thought a hundred years ago that we would live in world where not only do people communicate instantly through machines from all over the world from nearly anywhere but that we would send said machines to Mars and orbit around Saturn and one beyond the solar system. Mankind has an amazing ability to redefine are everyday reality especially during the 20th century so who knows what awaits.Inverse Skies said:Ahhh, I wondered why it didn't read correctly, likely, fair enough.Rigs83 said:Yeah just edited it to likely.

I have heard of that theory of humans downloading their minds onto supercomputers so they wouldn't have to have a physical body in a sense. I believe the only computer which could possibly be that powerful though would be a quantum computer which they are trying to develop but failing miserably. The very fact that a quantum computer could have compartments which exist in two places at once gives it immense computing capability, but I can't remember if it would be enough to store the human mind on, considering the human brain is the most complex thing in existence. It's a nice theory... whether its actually practical or not remains to be seen.
Personally myself I don't believe that is the only way for humanity to survive as a species, but we can't really ever be sure. We won't find out ourselves anyway so I guess all we can do is speculate.Rigs83 said:Well who would have thought a hundred years ago that we would live in world where not only do people communicate instantly through machines from all over the world from nearly anywhere but that we would send said machines to Mars and orbit around Saturn and one beyond the solar system. P.S.
I am not a optimist by nature but I don't see a way for mankind to survive any other way.
