I suppose I'd join the mobile infantry and get shipped off to planet P to die.
Hell, at least I would (maybe) have Michael Ironside as my commanding officer
as for fighting them off if they invaded... not much we civvies could do, if they had the tech to get to our planet.

Yes, nukes would obliterate our atmosphere, that's why, after the first nuclear test, the entire world was reduced to a lifeless, radioactive, husk and we're all dead.

The main body of my post was directed at some of the diner nuances of your post, specifically those related to blowing up the atmosphere and getting into space.

But for the purposes of debate; firstly, in order to intercept and destroy an oncoming missiles one would need to hit said missile with something, like a laser or some shit, this works fine in practice but every missile defence system has a critical volume it can deal with, or in other words, if you spam it with missiles it will fail anyway. We have more than enough nuclear missiles to spare.
