dont drag a fucking nuke across pittsburgh...er, i mean gotham city. it was like batman was trying to bang it against as much shit as possible.

also, dont make bane be the villian of the final movie of the trilogy. i have never found bane to be very interesting, hes definitely not more interesting than the joker

I would give Bane a better ending. He just got blasted away by Catwoman and that was it for a rivalry that had developed over the entire movie. Batman should have been the one to kill him in a far more epic way.

I would have added a bit more Batman in there. I am probably the only one but I feel like the Batman to no-Batman ratio was a bit low.
Probably would have changed the Bane's mask so I wasn't scared thinking it was the guy from Silence of the Lambs.

Cut Talia/Miranda completely.

I feel despite her mayor role in the story that she could've been cut out completely and the story would be better for it.

For example, Talia's ambition to fulfill Ra's plan to destroy Gotham seems a bit backward if you think about how in the beginning Gotham is just short of being a crime free utopia.
If you had Bane as the actual main villain you could at least argue, that given that he was thrown out of the League of Shadows for being too radical, his plan to destroy Gotham is either a twisted misunderstood version of Ra's Plan, or that he sees the upper class decadence and the less fair treatment of criminals as a reason that the city deserves to burn.

Also, i would've cut/simplified many things in the beginning of the movie in order to give more time to the ending.
The whole plan to steal Bruce Wayne's Fingerprints and ruin his company so that he reveals the fusion reactor to Tate/Talia seems elaborate and clever, but has many logic holes and frankly wasn't that much fun to watch.
Just have Tate/Talia (or if she's cut out, a random employee working for Bane) spying out the things she needs by herself or let Catwoman steal vital company data and be done with it.

And with the time saved, make the break between Alfred and Bruce more believable (i didn't buy it) and show more of "postapocalyptic" Gotham before Batman appears (i liked the scenes of Blake and Gordon sneaking through the deserted streets and planning thier strike, but in a Nolan-typical fashion, the portrayal of Anarchist Gotham lacked a human side and, as weird as it may sound, "drama")

Agreement in better Bane backstory, like for instance including the mention of the venom steroid since... hey, the first movie had the fear gas. Why can't we add another made up chemical? It's kind pivotal to Bane's character, at least initially.

I wouldn't have had Talia overshadow Bane's role as main villain, and as a corollary to that, come up with a better motive than "we must fulfill the wishes of the man who tried to destroy our romance".

I just didn't like the Talia character in general, I guess. She was boring and uninteresting to me. I didn't buy that she'd have any reason to destroy gotham. I also kind of blame her for Bane fizzling by cat-gunfire rather than in a blaze of glory by bat-boot-to-ass
There's a difference between including a psychotropic hallucinogen in the movie and including a formula that causes you to become absurdly large and powerful. Venom would be retarded in the Nolan setting, end of story.

But Jesus Christ, don't meant to be a dick (well I do) but the amount of completely missing the point of the movie, and the entire trilogy, in favour of kicking and screaming that the neo-noir mob movie Batman interpretation isn't enough like the fantastical comics is just downright astounding. If somebody calls me out on this post I'll elaborate on it but I don't think people read my posts most of the time and I've got a doctor's appointment so I'm not going to bother yet.

I hated Talia, and I fucking hated the way Bane just got reduced to a henchman straight afterward. And he got killed in the stupidest way possible.

Personally, I would've killed off Batman at the end, but made it ambiguous (so I'd have the movie end at Alfred in the restaurant nodding, and then cutting to black and the credits roll)
This!

Also I would have liked it if they gave Bane an actual ideological conviction that could motivate him. Maybe something in his past that really made him despise the rich and do all in his power to redestribute wealth. It would make the film much smarter as it would set Batman in a questionable light and make the audience reflect. I am not saying Bane was in the right, but a more ideologically loaded movie would fit Nolans tone I think. I may be very wrong though..

I would have scrapped the sex scene with Talia. It felt forced and didn't add anything. After all, her big betrayal later on was already significant because Bruce had trusted her to take over his company before having sex with her.

Captcha is "cherry on top"... given the context of my post, I don't even...

It took some time to get used to Bane's voice like Batman's. I probably would've tried a who Bruce Wayne really is. Is he Batman with a Bruce Wayne mask or is he really Bruce Wayne with a Batman mask. I don't think Catwoman or many secondary characters were a problem.

I kept thinking during the whole film "You know what? Blake would make a good Robin". At the end, I just said "fair enough, but this could end in a spin-off bait".

The final twist with Talia Al Ghul had a shock effect, but not much effect on the whole plot. Fix the latter part and her character is better for it. Although, my personal twist was that Marion Cotillard didn't end up as love interest.

Seriously, think about it. That was a mind-blowing twist if you know your actors

Short version: Would've done a Batman/Bruce Wayne identity plot. Wouldn't change much about the secondary characters. Would've given the big bad something to do instead of being there. While we're at it, would've improved the pacing. I barely felt transition between events. Also, certain events were really short or done really quickly. I'm going to wait for a director's cut.

The only real change that needed to be made was to make it an actual sequel to The Dark Knight, instead of just another sequel to Batman Begins. Seriously. A few tweaks made with Rachel and Harvey (Perhaps having Rachel die in the first movie due to Scarecrows toxin or something be the reason behind the 'Dent Act' and getting the criminals off the streets) and its like DK didn't happen at all. I get the reason behind it, not wanting to mention Joker at all out of respect for Heath (though its pretty fucking dumb reasoning - how does it show respect to totally ignore one of his best performances?) but that kind of real world meddling didn't help.

For specifics... As someone else mentioned, change the whole thing about his wounds. At first, I thought that was all a cover. Like he was using someone elses charts as an excuse for why he was a recluse, but apparently its real? That would only make sense if he had still been Batman for those eight years. But its made clear throughout the movie that he hadn't. Also, we see that he has a lot more scars on his body - that he wouldn't have gotten as a result from Dark Knight, which again, doesn't make sense if he hasn't been Batman since then.

The ending. I actually believed that Nolan was gonna do it. It felt right. Despite how lame it was that the climax was reduced to 'bomb with ticking clock' (are we really still doing that shit?), the impact of killing him off would have made up for it. And yeah, even if they aren't going to kill him off, at least make it ambiguous. This is Nolan, he's very fond of oblique endings (Memento, Prestige, Inception all have them), so have Alfred nod at the camera, cut to black, roll credits. Woulda worked.

Sure, I enjoyed the film. There is enough in there to explain away most of the plot holes (if you pay attention, and can hear over the bad sound mix), but its only a three star movie, lets be honest.

I would have killed Batman, and either Lucius or Commissioner Gordon. I went into that theater with the expectation of a dead Batman, and in some apparently psychopathic way I left disappointed.

I would also use the magic of necromancy to bring Heath Ledger back from the dead.

Edit: I feel like Alfred should have been mentioned in some small way during the middle of the movie. He resigns and quits in the beginning and magically goes to La-la Land for the rest of the film. I felt annoyed, considering how major of a character he is.

This. It would have made it so much more powerful.

I've seen the movie twice now. And it's better when you see it again. Even the things I didn't like make a lot more sense now. But I still think the ending would have been slightly better if Nolan never showed us Bruce Wayne in the end. It's not a big deal and I get what he was going for. But I really wanted him to pull a Nolan ending.

Why do people say that Bane was Talia's puppet? It was really clear that they are partners. I'd even argue that Bane was the one who manipulated Talia. He's a charismatic character. He's not a type of person that can be controlled. I think the plan to destroy Gotham was actually his idea more than Talia's.

I would have made the plot coherent.
/thread

But seriously, I would have made Bane the main antagonist throughout the entire film and made him his comic book self. have the whole substance abuse stuff going on.
I would have axed the shitty "let's become Batman for the second time in this movie" bull.
That's about it really. There's a bunch of other minor stuff, but I can't be bothered to go over it.

I know, right! The very idea that someone could expect or even take away from a work of art something completely different than someone else is indeed mindblowing! And that they might express that thought in a thread specifically created so that they might do so, it boggles the mind.

None of what Nolan did in the previous movies or the first 15.48 hours of TDKR changes one tiny bit if you just remove the scene at the cafe. Not a single solitary thing. Bruce still does his whole thing, learns whatever it is he learns, but instead of getting his happy ending he pays the ultimate price and that moment is etched into our minds forever. I believe Nolan failed. The scene doesn't even make any sense. Sure, Anne looks pretty good and she also needs to get away from the life but she and Bruce haven't had enough interaction to make a relationship viable and it is implied that they live happily ever after.

Yeah, I was pissed.

Captcha agrees with me about Bruce. Send Packing.
