How would you have ended ME3? [SPOILERS]

[EDIT] I've only recently found out what the indoctrination theory is. Whilst I think it makes sense, lets assume for this particular post that that theory doesn't exist. Let's see what creative juices there are around here and come up with our own plausible endings.

I've spent a fair bit of time with good old Google to see if there was anything like this but to no avail. So I apologise if you're sick of stuff like this or it's already here somewhere.

So it looks like the internet was pretty unhappy with ME3s ending. I was too but I'm looking forward to the extended cut to see what happens. But Bioware are saying that they won't change the ending itself because they're happy with what they made. I suppose gamers can't demand the sky but it never hurt to imagine things differently.

So escapists, tell me how you would have ended ME3.

My version:

-Shepard fights to the Citadel beam and gets to the Citadel.

-Once inside, with no-one else around or able to talk to him, he explores the place. (Similar layout to body room)

-He comes across a very large and creepy looking chamber that has hollows in the wall were 4/5 brains of the same type (throw in a penis shaped brain cluster for an easter egg(reapers are dicks)) are wired together by reaper technology.

-Upon examining the 'clusters', Shepard notices they all lead to a huge, strange looking artificial brain. (The brains are revealed to be the best brains from each 'top race' of each reaper cycle that are separate parts of a master reaper conciousness, specifically, Harbinger)

-Once Shepard realises this, Harbinger tries to overwhelm Shepard by telepathically absorbing his conciousness. Shepard manages to barely shake the attack off.

-Dialogue between Shepard and Harbinger reveals that the reaper cycles are complete mistakes as each brain cluster (of about 500) are being forced into a single conciousness. But each cluster carries personality traits that corrupt the conciousness into a blinding rage that demands the death of each race every 50,000 years. (I imagine being forced into a hive mind would be pretty unsettling).

-Because the reapers hard-wire the brains to not be able to control each reaper but not stop organic thoughts, this explains how chaos has seeped into to hive mind and corrupted it into thinking the 'cycles' are neccessary

-After dialogue, Harbinger absorbs Shepards mind ('Final battle' location is the dream world we see in earlier cutscenes) where he has to fight off 'mental jabs' (a'la reaper code segments from Legions side mission). These are fought off by 'charging' Shepards mind (avoid 'jabs', hold a trigger). Once this is done three times or whatever, Shepard is released (implying he broke free of indoctrination again) and punches the artificial brain into gooey jam, single handedly disabling all reapers everywhere (assuming that Harbinger is the hive mind for them all).

The end.

Interesting, and I like the idea of actually talking to Harbinger, but I'm not too sure about introducing a new gameplay mechanic right at the last boss (I really hate when that happens).

Personally I think I'd just go with the indoctrination theory; make it so that if you do see through the star child, you get a new ending. We don't necessarily need an explanation for the reapers (though I might just be saying that because the explanation we got was monumentally stupid).

Thanks. I really enjoyed talking to the fallen reaper on rannoch and thought "Why couldn't we talk to the boss?".
The new mechanic thing was literally off the top of my head. It's just that every mission in ME3 boils down to "Run...Cover...Shoot....Repeat". Thought it would be worth adding something completrly different. (Loved pissing around in the Mako from ME1).

His name was Marauder Shields.
And his three comrades all named Husk Health.

Don't like it much. Seems a bit too generic. A hive mind? :/
I'm not saying it's perfect by any measure. I'm just trying to get an ending based of the lore of the ME universe. Since the only other reaper the player speaks to is Sovereign, it makes sense that there would be one big boss controlling everything at some level. Most of the reapers appeared to have some of their own free will (like shooting lasers into specific things) but they're machines. And machines are great at doing exactly what they're told.
What ending would you have?

Ah ok. I didn't know about that theory until a few minutes ago and it does make a lot of sense. But for the sake of this post, lets say that it never existed. See what ideas people can come up with.

Also, it's a shame Bioware said that theory was out of the window. Sounded like it would have been a hell of a thing to pull off.

I would use the power of the search bar to know that we JUST had this thread two days ago. That's why you keep having to self-bump your own thread; we just talked about this.

If you're interested in others response, just look in there for I think anyone who had thoughts on this have already spoken there.
