There are two ways to critisize a piece of media; you can smash it with a sledgehammer, giving it a quick and painless death, or you can torture it with needles by pinpointing the areas where it could've improved upon itself.
Today's needle-torture victim will be God of War 3.
I love this game, but I'm also very critical on many points. One of these points being The Hermes Boots.
I didn't mind the concept, but the way it was implemented left much to be desired. Now, the way you use the boots in the game is by holding the L2 button and then holding and releasing the X button to dash forward or on the walls with the glowy footprints. But controlling the boots this way felt very slow and sluggish to me.
So, my idea on how I would've improved upon this concept is by buttonmapping the boots to the L2 button and the right analoge stick: Hold L2 for item access and use the right analoge stick to dash in whatever direction you want. So instead of doing the usual dogde roll, you would do a dash if you held the L2 button.
Feel free to call bullshit on this idea if you see any faults with it. And tell me what you would've improved in God of War 3 and how you would've improved it. This can be anything; story, combat, level design, visual design. But no bashing, please.
