I was kind of surprised that I lost a block by merely mentioning that I used a certain application to prevent certain things from showing up on my screen in a topic concerning certain things showing up on a certain website you guys might spend a lot of time on.
Thats because that certain application that stopped...

Fuck it, you were using an adblock weren't you? Guess what the escapist uses to get income. Thats right, ads.
I'd reckon at least 60% of all Firefox users are running Adblock+ and NoScript. Why? Being cautious around flash-based ads and applications that could be malicious, or be altered by hackers to become such which has happened before.
Well, generally, the escapist frowns on adblock as it reduces their income. Simple really, just don't mention it, because they don't like it.

I say let it be, it's not really much of a problem.

Although I am a bit annoyed that I now have a green warning shown... a warning I did not deserve in my eyes but am too lazy to argue about. Aw well, girls dig bad boys. Right?

Well, since we obviously can't get rid of it (I think it's nice to have), and the Administrators (or what the editors of this site is called) most likely did it to get rid of people who are jackasses, we simply have to try and NOT be an idiot here. I have to agree though, that it IS a bit blah that they punish you for past messages...

I don't see how it's a problem at all, because the fact is, the mods probably had a record of everyone's "forum health" before the health bar was introduced, but it probably wasn't called that and we weren't able to see it. Letting the user see their own level I think is a good idea, though assholes will tend to be assholes no matter how hard you try...

Do what most FPS shooters do now a days, get rid of the health bar and replace with the red jelly looking thing above the screen and it goes away over time after getting away from being attacked for a bit.

Your avatar ruined the last few months of my life.
You're welcome. : D

The "lasers" in Star Wars just... aren't. Period. And anyway, some people think Alderaan post-destruction was an improvement.

I'd make the Amnesty thing shorter by about three months, but other than that I think it's pretty solid.

But... Do all infringements or what have you count as the same thing? Whereas if I called someone an idiot and then proceeded to post pictures of Dead Babies everywhere, would it be the same punishment?

I would remove it. Six whole months to wipe a fucking warning? Warnings that used to be non-official reminders of how to be on the forum?

As a system, its gone full-retard.

Uhm... Yes. From what I understand, your forum health bar is reset after a set amount of months without incidence, actually.
So there.
[HEADING=3]Amnesty[/HEADING]
After every 6 months without any warnings, you will drop down one level on the Forum Health Meter. After 2 years without any warnings, your meter will be returned to 0, regardless of where it was before.

These adjustments don't apply to any users that have been permanently banned, and they don't remove the history that the moderators can see on your account. Anyone that is seen "gaming the system" will be held accountable for it.
There's not really anything I would change.
When was that implemented? When I first read the new rules that wasn't there.
Same day the introduced the rules - I wouldn't be surprised if they had it in place already, but then waited since they knew people wouldn't be happy. Its still fucking stupid.
This. I'll add that it shouldn't be public. Making it public is disrepectful and opens the door for bad things. I've already seen a user bring up another user's health bar during an argument and warning them to back off. That shouldn't happen.

Not all punishments carry the same healthbar effect, but once you're on permanent probation all punishments result in temporary suspension. Even low content post warnings.

Make it so that only purposeful infractions, or 10+ minor infractions over 3 days can move you up a level.

And make it heal every 3 months, not 6 months.

I don't wanna sound nitpicky but I've been a good little boy and I haven't had any bars knocked down

T^T I want a health pack!

Maybe that should be it. 500 posts without a problem you get a health pack or something.
I dunno >.>
The Escapist should charge $5 dollars for a health pack and then keep a chart on how many people were desperate enough to get rid of their useless warnings.
Nahhh you shouldn't be able to buy your way out of trouble on a forum. Either your a good poster and keep your nose clean or you're doing stuff that gets you into trouble.

And we all make mistakes or get a little hotheaded and rant, so I don't think we really need a "list" of how much people get into trouble. I like the health meter as it shows how close you are to a ban and such, but I dislike it in the way that it doesn't seem to go in the other direction.
So I'd like a health pack once and a while for being a good member, not because I payed them off.

When it first came out, I was slightly annoyed that I had a 2-year-old probation on my profile, but a few days ago I noticed it had healed, which made me happy.

So... that's what I would have changed when it first came out but I can't change that any more so my post is now kind of pointless.

Have a random picture to give it a point:

Add a list of infractions and reasons for them to the bar. That reenforces the reason why you were punished.

Removing four green bars from similar.squirrel's profile, of course.

No. I like this system. The Amnesty aspect is especially neat. The Karma system on PWOT is also kind of cool, but I don't know how it would go down here..

Edit: Actually, as others have stated, having links to the offending posts sounds like a good idea. I remember most of mine [low-content, violent, obscene..], but it would be interesting to see the misdemeanours of others.
