if they aren't bothering me/are anywhere outside I leave them alone, and if I'm feeling particularly lively I'll catch it and release it into the wild, but if they are a potential threat (there tend to be scorpions in these parts) I reach for the nearest shoe. It generally takes a few hits haha.

Aw, why would you kill such tiny creatures? Even the dangerous ones need love.

Usually the annoying critters would crawl around the floor and I scoop em up and throw them outside. The interior of my humble abode is no place for such an animal, after all.

Flying bugs I catch with stun spore + pokeball combo my hands, and I let them go outside, or have them crawl on me after I catch them.

Some are hazardous to handle, but I remember I am larger and have tools at my disposal. Spiders on the other hand may bite me, but they deserve to stay. They get grub by eating other insects, in exchange for keeping the house pest-free.

Spiders are always welcome.

Fun Fact: Did you know there is an estimated 10 quintillion insects inhabiting the planet at any one time?
That's a lot of love to give, or squishiness, depending how you look at it.

Usually I keep the kitchen and bathrooms relatively clean. As for techniques I usually use a piece of tissue paper to squash a bug and quickly flush it or fling it outside if I'm feeling nice that day. If nothing is around I'll use the palm of my hand, because, I agree, there's no sleep to be had once it scurries away out of sight.. waiting (I hate killing spiders like that, it's so gross! ugh!). I learned something too that works with flies mostly. They watch with their many eyes but I found if you hold a hand in front of them from a distance they'll wait for you to move in with that hand but they never anticipate your other hand with rolled up magazine coming from the other direction. They're kind of dumb. You'd think with all those eyes they'd see it coming.

Most of the time I just leave them and then they occasionally eventually die in a corner because they don't know what a door is and so then I feel sorry for them and let them out the window to be eaten by the numerous birds in my garden. Ah, nature.

And ONLY my mitts! Everything else is too unreliable! KARATE CHOP!
I can catch houseflies with my hands.
Not out of mid-air, I'm not that good - yet. If its on a solid surface, rubbing its... legs(?) and listening for the distinctive sound that human hands make while holding a flyswatter - then my hands are about to get dirty.

Now yellowjackets, wasps, etc. - those guys creep me out and its time for the big can of Ortho4. Other things get squirted with RAID and then I just stand around and watch them die.

I try not to kill bugs if I can help it. If it is something like a wasp or something I spray it with whatever chemical is nearby. I hate wasps. Don't mind bees though.

I take them outside, life is very precious to me. The one time I did try to smush an ant, I used a tissue and felt it POP in my hand.

............................................

you can understand why I don't want to kill bugs now, right.

Usually the closest object to me, doesn't matter if it's a magazine or my shoe. Just as long as that bug is dead, I will be a happy man.

I usually go for a shoe or my bare hands, with bug spray only being used on wasps nests or if I'm cleaning out a shed or something along those lines, which is crawling with bugs. I have recently discovered that Huntsman's spiders -- the big Australian things that have become naturalized in Florida -- don't have an instinct to run away from a pistol being pointed at them. As a result, I've taken to killing those things with an airsoft pistol. It's a lot more effective than using a broom and hoping they don't survive and get away, or using bug spray, which just makes 'em mad.

Edit: These things.

I don't really kill bugs. They don't bother me unless it happens to be a mosquito.

I spray them with ammonia, bleach, alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide. Most bugs stop moving after being sprayed by one of those.

Although I make a special exception for ticks. Those little bastards are subject to whatever fun way I can think of to kill them. Sometimes I'll boil them, other times I'll drop them in alcohol and light it on fire.

Unless it's a mosquito (I'll actively kill those suckers) I will carefully capture the bug, maybe show the kids for a bit, and then release it outside unharmed. Of course, we don't really get any of the huge scary ones here so it's easy to be friendly... I would probably be freaked right out if I had one of those huntsman spiders in the house and fetch maybe a broom or something D:
