There's this thing in France called "Soldes" it happens every summer, and it's like CRAZY sales for just about everything from clothes to food to video games to EVERYTHING. Couldn't stop myself from buying stuff and increasing my ever growing backlog of games... here's mine:

Twilight Princess (10 euros :p )
Eternal Darkness Sanity's requiem (why yes on the gamecube, I mean 5 euros COME ON)
Condemned Criminal Origins
Mafia 2
Assassin's Creed 2 (I'll finish it...one day...)
F.E.A.R 2
No More Heroes (was dirt cheap)
Demon's souls
Dead Rising 2 (was also dirt cheap lol)
Mass Effect 1 and 2
Borderlands
Dead Space 2
inFamous

You would think summer would mean more time to game huh...What about you?

My backlog is half my Steam Library, the majority of my PS3 games, and Persona 3:FES, Persona 4, and finally Odin Sphere. Not to mention all three Thief games or Morrowind at all...

That Steam library includes:

Aliens Vs. Predator
Bioshock 2
Commander Keen complete pack
Deus Ex 1 and 2 (no I still have not fully played them, a cardinal sin I know)
Dragon Age: Origins (Hate that game, so no regrets)
Eternity's Child (seriously)
F.E.A.R 1 and 2 (and the expansion packs).
Left 4 Dead 2
Magicka
Magic: The gathering 2012
The Secret of Monkey Island
Monkey Island 2: Lechuck's Revenge
Puzzle Quest 1 and 2
Serious Sam, First and Second encounter
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Torchlight
Two Worlds 1
Uplink

PS3 games include:
Assassins Creed one (and then 2 and brotherhood when I get around to finishing the first).
Demon's Souls
Final Fantasy 13 (I've finished the main part, but I'm still grinding Trapezohedrons)
Prototype
inFamous
Wipeout HD
Dead Nation

Yep, backlog, and all I want to play is Persona 4!

EDIT: Oh, and Final Fantasy 12, Metal Gear Solid 4, Guild Wars, EvE Online, and many other Shin Megami Tensei games once I finish P3 and P4.

Well...if you think it's bad now, wait 'till you've been gaming for 20 years...
you have less time, so you find yourself drawn to games with a short learning curve that don't take too long to finish.

There's probably close to 100 games or more I just own and have never played for more than a few hours. Pretty much decided I'm not going through anything beyond the last console generation.

So for the PS2 there's:
FF XII
Dragon Quest 7
Okami

Current gen on the PS3:

Dirt 3
Infamous
FFXIII

Then there's the mess of stuff for the PC I bought in various Steam sales, I swear I can't decide if it's a blessing or a curse; amongst others the ones I'd really like to play:

Fallout 3
Mass Effect 1 & 2
Dragon Age: Origins 1
The Witcher
Just Cause 2

You may notice a lot of RPG's in this list; much as I've allways liked them, I just find it really hard to start one as they're going to take me a really long time to finish.

Just Crysis 2 and Witcher 2. There are a few Old games I've been wanting to check out, but never get around to doing so. Deus Ex, Stalker .etc. But I don't count them as Backlog for some reason.

None I always beat a game before I buy another one. The only time I ever had a bunch of games to beat is when the local blockbuster went out of business and i got 4 games for 20 bucks

I can't list the whole thing but my backlog is nearly 1000 games.

I have at least 400 games I've never played. I used to work in a game store and bought everything at ridiculously low prices for the future. Now I am too busy in real life to actually play that much. :(

As another long term adult gamer who can sympathize, some advice: Skip FFXII it is a huge time sink. Nice. Decent play if you skip the side stuff (mostly hunting NMs is the HUGE time sink of the game, but many are optional). Still, having played all the FFs that came over for a console that hooks to a television - it's forgettable when you wrap it up and move on, so save the time. FFXIII, on the other hand, is your standard FF time commitment and you're on something of a rail through the larger part of the game anyway - also it was pretty and again decent in story so I'd just play that one over XII if you played neither. Combat in FXIII is more engaging as well - where in XII you can basically set up routines and I've seen people outright leave the game running over night with no one at the wheel.

ME 1 & 2 won't take as long as you think if you're a solid RPG background and know how to look in every nook and cranny the first time you go somewhere. I enjoyed 2 - never got to play 1 b/c of console restriction but watched a friend at it last summer.

Fallout 3 and Dragon Age Origins are both long games. DAO is a less open world, more checking off places you've "finished" type of game so I'd say that's going to be easier on your time in the way of providing you definite milestones to quit at for any given session - but some of them become very long sessions if you do it that way. Fallout 3 is too easy to fall into completely, but you have the option of doing absolutely nothing but exploring on your own time, since we know there's never really any urgency to quests until you show up.

Just my 2 cents though, if it's of no help then feel free to discard entirely :)

I'll probably be combing this thread for suggestions - my backlog seems suspiciously empty and I'm replaying things.

I've got a couple of things I'm supposed to be doing...
An Empire Total War campaign I've been meaning to do for a LONG time (I its think a year now)
Finish my Total War: Shogun 2 campaign as the Hattori
Do Fallout New Vegas on Hardcore
Finish my ongoing Mass Effect story as another FemShep (no romances in either ME or ME2)
Finish my ongoing Mass Effect 2 story with Shepard (remaining loyal to Ash; my other Shepard cheated on her with Tali :p)
Complete the Campaign in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on Realistic (that's been ongoing for around 3 years)
Oh, better not forget Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl; I bought it again from Steam during the Christmas sale, but haven't got round to installing and playing it yet.
And I need to get Rome: Total War out again.
Also, I need to find out whether KOTOR will run on my laptop, because if it does, I'm in business again. If so, then I've got at least 4 playthroughs of that to do.

Don't have one. I don't buy many games. Though I do have a list of games very often, usually make do with what I have.

Mass Effect 1+2 in anticipation for ME3.

Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion in anticipation for Skyrim.

New Vegas. Just because(in the middle of that one now actually).

Witcher 2. Just because.

Alpha Centauri from GoG, because it's the best Civ game ever.

Dragon Age Origins. Still got to beat it as a human Noble and Dalish Elf. Made too many Dwarves... Actually, no. You can never have too many Dwarves.

And that's about it for now.

I downloaded Infamous and begun playing it, but then I borrowed FInal Fantasy XIII from a friend and begun playing that instead, and then I borrowed Fallout 3 from another friend, but I haven't begun playing that game so much.

I need to finish Persona 4 (and start a new game immediately after naturally) also need to continue playing Castlevania SOTN, ICO, Half Life. Just Cause 2 doesn't count cuz i gave up on it and a fucking ridiculous amount of anime to start/finish

Oh yeah if they ever fix the retarded AI on BRINK i'll take another shot at that as well.
