Whether it's with Legos, Playmobil, Mega Blox, K'nex, or whatever you use, building toys are fun.
Sometimes you'll just build a little spaceship, but sometimes you'll craft an entire city.

Share your memories with your favorite building toys, and the massive erections you built with them.

For me, it'd be the awesome restaurant/ hotel/ resistance base/ police station/ whatever else it was that I built in about the third grade. It had a cool elevated road system next to it, and I used that to reenact the opening level of Sonic Adventure 2 with minifigs.

With Playmobil, my sister and I made massive castles, with dungeons and towers and such.
We'd have huge wars between multiple factions, but I was too young to understand the deep racial tension that was going on.

I remember that a friend and I used to build robots out of Lego, using the robots to fight one another.

It was good fun.

I had Legos. Cases and cases of them. I always think back and find it funny that I never really built much out of them, instead, I just equipped the figures with weapons and had all out wars. I used my entire room in some instances.

I used to do that too, but sadly I rearranged my room so that the bed is dominating the entire area, and there's little open space to set up huge battles : (

I feared this thread would be about a totally different subject.

Anyhoo, I still have all my Legos, and still play with the from time to time.

Man, I used my bed. I used my desk. Hell, I had guys hanging from my lights and standing on my fan blades. It was always a huge production. Some of my favorite memories as a kid.

There were a lot of downer threads today.
I felt I needed to lighten the mood.

I'd do that, but my room just isn't set up for all that.
I don't have all that many flat surfaces, and wall-to-wall carpet is no fun for Legos.
I had to buy a huge baseplate so I could still play sometimes when my mom made me move all my toys to my closet.

I love Legos still. I've got so many of them and remember the fun I had playing with them. The largest construct I created that I can remember is an 11 ft tower, it didn't last long. It was at my friends birthday when I was little and we had a contest to see who could build the largest thing out of Legos in 5 minutes. I won but when we were going to take a picture it toppled over because it was windy outside.
The most elaborate things I built were ships. In those I would use every type of Lego, Megablock, K'nex, and Bionicle parts to make them.
Now I want to make something again, but I stopped after what happened one time while I was playing with Legos.

You're making me eye the various tubs of Legos around my room now... I should pull them out and just nostalgia for the night.

In our old house, my sister made ceiling-scrapers, that, of course, made it all the way to the ceiling.
It wasn't that impressive, really. We did have six-foot ceilings, after all.

I'm noticing a trend with your recent topics....
A friend and I had no skill with things like LEGOs so anytime we set out to create something, it ended in disaster and our plan devolved into seeing how high we could get it. We got pretty damn high with a few constructs.

I laughed for a solid few minutes. Thank you, good sir.

OT: I rarely just made whatever came to mind with Lego. It was usually a matter of wanting to make something I had already seen, like on the box or in the ad or whatever. Dammit, now I have the urge to get all them Legos out again!

I only get to play with Lego when I'm babysitting and due to the age of my charges it's Duplo Lego... =(

I do occasionally play Lego with my friend's 8 year old daughter, but she's the kind of girl who likes to decide what people build and is tends to take Legos out of your own pile without asking and I'm the kind of woman who won't let an 8 year old push me around all the time so we tend to move on to other things.

I miss playing with Lego without kids around =/ (Note to self: save up for a personal set...)

You never built tanks and bunkers?

Well if they could stay up longer than mine did then that's good. I mean since it was a race I didn't really make a good base so it collapsed.

Rarely. If I built a vehicle, it was almost instantly destroyed for cover. And bunkers weren't much more than walls. I would actually imagine the scene more than I would build it.

I guess a urdoinitrong.jpg was in order at the time, but I had too much fun with it to care.
