This is unexpected [http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/09/15-1/monster-musume-polls-fans-about-anime-adaptation]

For those who don't know Monster Musume, or Everyday Monster as translators put it, is a popular manga series with it topping the New York Times manga sales charts and gaining a bit of a cult following.

It's an ecchi series involving monster girls of different types but it's kind of tame and I actually like it; its funny with a protagonist that I think is a bit dense but is surprisingly accepting of being forced to live with a varied group of different mythical creatures at his house from lambias to harpies, to even a dullahan. The gags are nice and somewhat reflexive of the different species and it generally has an upbeat tone.

anyway, a poll is out to ask questions about what fans would want in an adaptation. I'm not sure if this means they want to produce an anime about it but given it's supposed popularity, i'm not surprised.

I guess the question is, would you want an adaptation and what do you want in it?

The official English title is Everyday life with monster girls. Anyway, I don't want an adaptation. I hate it when a manga I like becomes an anime and people either don't read it, or just read it because they like the anime, and not because they saw the manga one day and thought "This seems good."

Asking me if I want an adaption of Monster Musume would be like asking me if I wanted a third season to Baka and Test, both would be "Oh fucking yes I would!" as a response. This is the manga that got me to read manga [small]and a slight fetish towards monster girls, but that's not important.[/small]

For what I want to see, keep it the same. Don't try and force a story or drama. The series knows it's nothing more than a fan-service harem and it doesn't try to be more than that. Trying to make it what it isn't will only alienate the old audience and make potential new viewers role their eyes at another ecchi series trying to be taken seriously.

I haven't heard of this manga until now (not up to date with mangas) and reading the synopis on wiki, it sound like it will be a hoot!

Everyone needs to get exposed to the large variety of entertainment in some way. Can you honestly say you've never found out about a song because it was featured in a movie you saw? As long as it makes people think 'Hmm, let's try out the original' what's the harm? The reason I started reading Lord of the Rings was because I saw the movies. Same with Akira and Berserk. I really don't see how this is anything other than a benefit.

OT: Cool.

The manga was fun enough, if not piling on the monster girls after a while.

I say go for it. I'm liking the manga so far, although with the addition of the spider girl in the newest volume, I fear that the writer might be adding too many characters into the mix (just read the wiki page. Apparently there will be yet another girl added in). The only thing I'd be worried about in the anime would be if the anime went off and did its own thing for an ending because the manga was still going. That drives me nuts. But I would love to see Papi and all the others animated and hear them talk.

What I don't like is that the anime is often regarded as the main incarnation of the series, while the manga is only for real hard-core fans. Kind of like how it's Hitchcock's Psycho movie that's famous, and not the Bloch novel it's based on. It's as if the original version doesn't count.

Considering Arachnea's looks, I'm glad she's joined the gang, and if the new girl is as attractive, I say bring her on!

Never read the manga, but heard of it. While I'm not into ecchi, it seems like a fun enough series, and I'm okay with ecchi if it's still fund. If it does get an anime adaptation, I'd check it out at least.

Sorry, Queen Michael.

She is a drastic departure from the others, making her pop a lot more. Her personality is also completely different from them. I just worry that, unless this is a long-running series, with so many characters running around (because we also have the monster girls who aren't living at his place) that some of them will get ignored or not fully developed.
As for the new girl, I wish I knew what she looked like, but I couldn't find any pictures of her. Didn't look too hard, but apparently she's a Dullahan, a type of headless fairy. Which should prove very interesting.

They're releasing a spinoff called Nurse Hitomi's Monster Infirmary come February, so I imagine that'll help take care of character development.

Yeah, she's a dullahan with a bit of 8th grader syndrome

Lol, they don't need an anime to do that. It's already happening in the manga.
And to make it unfair, the ones that are going to get some limelight is only the original 3.

You know, I typed that and then read it. "Uh...I wonder if I should reword that...nah." I knew someone would catch it eventually. :)

I love this series more than I should. Then again, I love any series with Metal Gear parodies. I'd definitely watch an anime of it. Although I'm a little surprised you guys are calling it "an echi series with a lot of fan service". I thought it was intended to be porn right from the get-go and the author was pretty good so the story is funny and characters interesting

I actually agree to an extent. To be honest, I never heard of Attack on Titan until it got an anime, but I liked it so much I read all of the manga. It annoys me when I see threads and people talk about how the series would have been so much better if this happened or that didn't happen and "everyone" agrees, even though they don't even know what happens in the second half of the story. Like the anime promised to be something it wasn't. And here I am just reading ahead, and happy the series turned out like it did

I've liked Monster Musume a lot more than any other harem anime made. It's funny and avoids pretty much all the things that are terrible about this kind of anime while also making sense about it.

Case in point:

In everyone one of these animes there's always one girl that wants to do it with the main guy, but the main guy doesn't do it because he's afraid.

Here however: It's painfully obvious he wants as much monstergirl strange as they want human strange, but their is an actual law that forbids it. THERE'S A REASON HE CAN'T HAVE SEX WITH THESE WOMEN!

Lastly it goes back to the best method of storytelling for this genre: having "candidates" for marriage and having the story go in a direction to where it feels like the protagonist must make choice from these women instead of all the girls hopping on him at once for being a nice guy (ignoring that chapter where they were in heat). The main guys also isn't that much of a pushover, he definitely pushes back in undesirable scenarios and even flats out fights back.

The only series I can compare this to is Tenchi Muyo!, my favorite anime of all time. None of these girls are stereotypically stereotypes, the content is more funny than sexual, the main guy has more nards than most protags, and it's pretty memorable. It's the best one in a long time.

I like a the series, but given how badly a lot of anime gets "corrected" anymore...

I'd be waiting for the blu-ray anyways.

I'd also want the studio behind the later To Love-Ru to handle the anime.
