Frankly, I just man to see Ant Man/Giant Man and Wasp in the Avengers movie.
They won't be in the first Avengers film, but after Edgar Wright's Ant-man they'll probably turn up in a sequel.

The one with Eric Banna and Nick Nolte was garbage.

Edward Norton Hulk, though? Awesome.

The Hulk could be more compelling without his main antagonist being the Army, and actually having a more heroic foil like Thor or Captain America instead of it just being Hulk all of the Time.
Either way, The Hulk is the least interesting character that could have been in the Avengers. He's just all 'Grawr, I'm big, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry' etc... What possible story arc could he have filled?
That's true, and he could've taken some slack from Thor being the big dumb strong guy.
Ever read Ultimates? That's the story role he could have been in. It's obvious that they can't go for Loki as a villain like the first Avengers, as he was dispatched in the Thor movie, so having the Hulk as a villain for the first act could be very compelling. Also having his inevitable heel face turn make him the big damn hero during the climax.

Frankly, I just man to see Ant Man/Giant Man and Wasp in the Avengers movie.
Loki IS the main villain for The Avengers. Didn't you see the after-Thor clip?

Can anyone explain to me why, with the exception of Iron Man, Marvel is trying to make The Avengers look like their Ultimate versions?

Does anyone even read the Ultimates line anymore? Im sure that when it was popular people didnt say "Oh yeah if they make a movie I want them to look like that!"

Well maybe they blind and dumb, but not normal folk.

I can forgive Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, because hey he's Sam Freakin Jackson! But other than that I want my marvel hero's the way they where ment to look.
I dunno. I read the Ultimate Spider Man arc for a little while but never anything else.
I guess for the same reason the Ultimate series was made in the first place; to appeal to a younger generation.
Hell, I can be considered a purist by some standards but I personally think that this [http://www.destroythecyb.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/ultimateironmanii01dellottocover.jpg] looks a bit better than this [http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/1/10135/295594-187229-iron-man-armor_super.jpg] but that's just me.

And to be frank, I thought the original Thor design was a little... I'm not sure the right word. Campy maybe? Cheesy? I'm not sure which word would work here but to be honest, I like the Ultimate version more but that's only going on appearance as I haven't read any of them.

Actually I thought Ultimates Iron Man was the worst looking Iron Man ever.

Thor's design for the Thor movie was based on what Thor wears in the comics nowadays, which I like. I admit the shorts, knee high boots, and cut-off chest plate look of classic Thor wouldnt have looked well. I hope his look doesnt change that much in Avengers, or if nothing else he sticks with it during battles.

Really? Huh. I thought he looked pretty cool, to be honest but like I said, just my opinion.
And see, I didn't know that. I really need to read more comics now besides standalone arcs. >.>
Still, I like the look of Ultimate Thor best out of all I've seen, which seems to be what he would wear in The Avengers film so I'm excited about that.
Though now that I think about it... the reason I don't really read that many Ultimate series is because Ultimate Spider Man lost me after a while.
I bought the big volume collections (which is the entire series in about... 12 volumes or something which I got for about 40 dollars. I was happy about that XD) but I lost interest about half way through as it just seemed... I don't know the right way to describe it. Something just didn't click with me and I figured it would be the same for the rest of the Ultimates.

I thought he looked better with the shorter hair myself. But I'm guessing they think the longer hair will go better with the fact that his armor no longer seems to have chainmail underneath similar to ultimates thor (I'd post an image, but don't know how/have trouble doing things like that)
Julianking93 said:
Oh yeah, that might have been what they were doing. I never read the Ultimate series but after seeing a picture, it looks like that's what they went for.

Longer hair, just a chest plate and nothing covering the arms.
So yeah, good eye there :D

And to post an image, just quote my post and see how I did that :p
As much as I love Ultimate Thor, I think it's really just a move back toward the original/classic Thor costume.

If you see in the final bit, he's still wearing a cape when he's throwing his hammer, it's just he may have taken it off to be more informal for the meeting, something John Romita Jr has drawn recently a couple of times.

I don't usually captcha but "Do not question authority". WTF?

You're doing yourself a disservice as some of the other ultimates stuff is pretty good like X-men and Ultimates which were written by Mark Millar not Brian Bendis. Though your mileage may vary, Mark Millar before he started to suck, took the Avengers that had kind of slumped in popularity and re-interpreted as extreme parodies of the original characters and emphasising certain character traits, while modernizing it to a post 9/11 US.

This is where people either love or hate Ultimates, Captain America is overly jingoistic and kind of a jerk, Tony Stark is an alcoholic womanizer, Thor is a wannabe hippie messiah, Bruce Banner is a neurotic nerd that turns into a cannabilistic monster and Hank Pym sure does love beating his wife (you can understand why so many people hate it). But at the time it was fresh and punchy, well written and really popularize the idea of a metahuman as both a superhero and a celebrity.

What's this? There is a Bruce Banner that isn't Eric Bana?
Damn them!
He played that roll well!
Please tell me you are serious. I fucking hated the Incredible Hulk. It was waaaaaay too much of an action movie. 2003 Hulk was awesome.

Well, that, and I have no interest in half of the Avengers, or the movie itself. But I will see it just out of it having Whedon.
I need to edit that.

I was very young when I first saw it.

I was easily taken in by the visuals.

Not true. Mark Ruffalo has been confirmed as the new actor to play Bruce/Hulk.
Not to mention that IMDB has Lou Ferrigno credited as the voice of the Hulk.
