I dont think the Hulk Hogan tape deal would be so bad but if memory serves gawker did an article the same WEEK saying how immoral it was to share those nude celebrities hacked photos. Kinda hope Hogan smashes them.

The circumstances under which the tape was made were certainly dodgy, but the case against Gawker is not quite so airtight. The media need not follow the same rules of engagement as the police, so while Hogan was not a willing participant in being taped, I don't think that Gawker was necessarily obligated to not show it. It looks like that the only real obligation gawker had to follow was whether the tape was real and it's authenticity is not in question.

There are opposing views on the viability of Hogan's case and it does not look good for him that he tried to move from federal to state court and was rebuffed. The pre trial rulings were also against him.

I fucking hate Gawker Media. They are nothing more than a celebrity tabloid blog that frequently posts stories without proper attribution or proof. They have a stronger case here than it seems and they might come out the other side bruised but still OK. I'll just have to hope that they fuck up in some other way for them to bring themselves down.

Interestingly one of the cornerstones of Gawker's defense is that Hogan does not own the rights to the tape. In other words he did not record it and may not have even known it existed. This bolsters Gawker's claim to legally leak it. It makes them look even more skeezy morally though.

Okay, after confirming that this was indeed taken without his permission, I have to ask... where the hell do they get the right to do this? This reminds me strongly of the celebrity nudes that were spread around about a year ago. How is this any different? Is it somehow more just when a news outlet decides to spread a sex tape than an individual?
And let's not lose sight of the fact that it was Gawker who were the loudest in their protestations of THOSE celebrity nudes. They even took that completely unrelated topic and used to smear Gamergate as somehow an "associated" phenomenon. In short, they are disgusting hypocrites.

And that is one answer to Fappy's question of why we should care when there are other malignant corporations out there. They made it personal.

Godspeed, Mr. Hogan. FInish them!

Good. Releasing someone's sex tape without permission is just wrong. This should not be a difficult concept for people to grasp.

While I think this is something you should go legal about, 100 mil is outrageous, and thus I hope Hulk loses.

Wasn't there a thing a while back comparing their actions around the leaked sex tape, in that they were deadset on getting everyone they could to see it, even though they weren't allowed to and were told to take it down, and heir response to "the fappening" in which they cracked the shits and got angry about hacked photos?
Someone made an imgur of it to show what massive hypocrites they are (no that that's difficult lol).

Goodluck Hulk, give gawker a good leg drop.

Fair enough. But at least in my mind. When i see celeberity sex tapes and lhotos being leak pretty often, i wouldn't even risk it, unless i was comfortable having it seen. I mean its always a possibility Especially if you are a celebrity.

100 mil does seem a lot though.

Same, I forget that I knew Hulk Hogan first than the Incredible Hulk.

OT- I hoped Hulk win the case.

Yeah - give the man his money. You shouldn't get to steal from someone, profit from their humilaition and/or suffering and then just carry on as normal.

Anyone who thinks doing this is ok is the lowest scum of "journalist". Fuck it this isn't even journalism - this is criminal.

How about we think about the "celebrity hacks" done on such people as Jennifer Lawrence and compare the reactions to this - then we can see who the hypocrites are.

Unfortunately, the distinction between the two has often been a bit murky, especially with some high profile cases recently. This is rather more blatant than usual, though.

I suppose the idea being (analagous to the idea that a woman should be able to wear what she wants without being thought of as "culpable" to a rape or assaualt) that what consenting adults do shouldn't have to be censored because of what other scummy shits *might* do with it.

It shouldn't be necessary to consider the release of a sex tape (by an outside source) when you make it for yourself or for a sexual partner.

Frankly the whole idea that people get themselves off to what I see as being a very basic and massive intrusion on their intimacy sickens me. The idea that the people who have illegally inserted themselves into the intimacy of someone else can get away free as a bird? That just makes me angry.

100mil may seem like a lot - but if this happened to me I would want to take the bastards for everything I could. I mean I could use the money of course - but I would want them to pay as much as possible for a transgression such as this regardless of how hard up (or otherwise) I was.

By his retarded reasoning the 2014 celebrity photo hacking was actually investigative journalism since I can guarantee there is far more public interest in Jennifer Lawrence's tits than in Hogan's pecker.

Dude's a scumbag. Enough said.

Publishing tapes like this is flagrantly immoral. There's no public interest, no leg to stand on.

Hope Gawker loses, and I hope a host of other outlets are similarly brought in for invasion of privacy, though on that latter count I know there's not much hope.

Yeah at first I thought this would be a Taco Themed thread about the Hulk smashing the media.

Yeah, it's pretty boring. He just kept no-selling everything she did.

And right before the orgasm, he showed John Cena how it's done and kicked out at two.

Then she ripped off her mask and revealed that it was Vince all along. After which he called for the ref to ring the damned bell, despite Hogan not having come yet.

They really do write themselves.
Pure. Comedy. Gold.

We just have to hope Vinny Mac doesn't read this, or he'll end up creating some sort of Sex Wrestling League. Yikes.

I honestly thought this was going to be about the Green Guy, too. Shoot. :)

I have a distaste for Gawker just as much as anyone else does, but I don't quite understand gamers' obsession over it. There are far more nefarious corporations out there that could use a stern slap in the face, so why get so worked up over a sleazy press corp?

I guess some people just feel strong about right and wrong.

And they don't take trouble for very long.

They've got something deep inside of them, and courage is the thing that keeps us free.

Because they're a real American, who Fight for the rights of every man.

...

Sorry.
That was pretty sublime. Well done.

As far as I can tell, someone else was videoing it (which kinda just raises more questions) and Hogan may not even have been aware of its existence.
