Perhaps this is common knowledge, but if you use a tranquilizer gun and shoot an enemy in the head it will kill them. The stupid thing about this is you will likely not notice, as it still gives you XP for a "merciful" takedown. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or intended, but be aware of this!

edit: you can tell if an enemy is dead or not by looking at their body. If there is a skull icon, they are dead. If there is instead a "Zzz" icon, they are unconscious.

That is not quite correct.

It's a glitch that only occurs occasionally. From what I've seen it appears to mostly happen when you tranq a sitting target. Also, you don't need to hit them in the head for it to happen.

I always go for chest shots anyways, larger target means less chance of missing and alerting everyone to my presence.

Never experienced the glitch myself, but that would be a pain if it did happen.

I was seriously expecting a post saying "YOU'RE ALL PUSSIES". Ha, ha!

It's a shame to hear about a bug like that being present in the game.

Except when there's a staitonary target that is not aware to your presence.

I tended to go for headshots simply because it was an instant takedown

I don't know man, it seems way too weird, I mean, why would they even give you Merciful points if it didn't count as a KO instead of a death? Also, with some logic, a dart to the brain, not even shot but propelled with compressed air, has a hard time to dig through a skull and kill a person, you would think the developers thought of it, HOPEFULLY....
Too many things seem off and I don't want to start my playthrough AGAIN.

I've checked it, as I usually search or move all my bodies. It's a glitch, and does not happen all the time. In fact it's never happened with me. I live on head shots. >.>

Huh, when I first started the game when I tried shooting the beginning guards in the head with the tranq gun absolutely nothing happened. They just went "Hey!" and started looking around for me.
