You're already told you don't get bonus/replacement keys for games you already own. You should already be aware of this and be okay with it if you're buying into it. It's absurd to then turn around and say "I don't like this arrangement, I've giving away these keys because I can!"

also, I like the notion that you don't want to pay to be told what to do...With STEAM keys....

Yeah, seriously.
curious on your thoughts on this.

say someone was going to give 4 dollars, and they already had 3 of the 4 games in the bundle, so were going to give those 3 keys away, but they really wanted that one game.

you said this violates the terms of agreement and you shouldn't do it? (or implied you shouldn't do it)

but what if that person just buys the bundle twice, for 2 bucks a piece? they are paying the same amount, but getting two amounts of keys, one as gifts (which you can do) and one for themselves, is there anything wrong with that then?

I usually donate $10 and it all goes to charity. Usually $10 for humble bundles is a pretty good price. If people are too cheap to only pay a dollar I think they might as well torrent it.
That comment is a little unfair I think. If you can't afford to be charitable but you want the goodies anyway then sure you COULD torrent it. But they're letting you have it for just the one dollar. I'm pretty sure even the poorest gamer can afford one dollar. And if 1000 people torrent it instead of throwing a buck in, then HB missing out on $1000. They then rely on people who can afford to be more charitable to make it up.

I don't judge anyone for how much they give to charity. It all adds up in the end and thats what counts.
Well, if we were to consider the server costs in this we might wonder if paying 1 dollar is better than torrenting. If we use a torrent there's no cost to HB.

OT: I generally pay between 15-35 depending on the games, bonuses and how much money I have. Lately I have been trying to avoid it completely though. I have too many games as it is. I was considering to get the Origin bundle, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
well i don't know about you, but most the games i buy are steam keys or origin keys or etc..., their have been very few games (that i can think of) that were able to be downloaded directly from HB, so i think that kinda eliminates (at least for huge bundles, like AAA type stuff or popular indie games) that cost.

OT: I forgot to answer this in my previous post, but i usually go with the average if not rounded up to the next dollar; I'm a poor college kid who still has 1100 to pay off for tuition this fall, and another 8000 next spring, so paying any more than that is pushing it, my money is greatly needed elsewhere (obviously i could just NOT buy the games, but i am using them, so mehh)

Ever since I learned that the whole charity thing is added to get you to pay more, and not because the companies involved care about the charities, I've stopped feeling guilty for whatever amount I choose to pay.

And, yes, there is a huge moral different between paying even a tiny amount for a game and pirating it for free. You have their permission to do the former, but you do not have their permission to do the latter. And, ultimately, permission is the dividing ling between stealing and legitimate ownership. (If not, then gifts would be immoral.)

Finally, "personal use" by its very nature includes the ability to give it away. If I buy, say, a cup for my own personal use, am I restricted from giving it away to someone else?

It is a bit of a jerk move to buy games and then sell them, though. But that's more because you are depriving them of revenue and cheating your friends out of a deal. It's not because you don't have a right to sell your keys.

EDIT: realized I forgot to answer the question. I generally pay 1 cent at first, as it gives me more time to come up with the money. I then never pay more than the average until after the sale is concluded, so my payment will not make someone else have to pay more. In my opinion, we have an obligation to other buyers, too, not to artificially increase the amount they have to pay.

Ultimately, I generally just pay the minimum amount I need for what I want. Again, I'm wary of being manipulated. If I want to pay for a charity, I can pay the charity directly instead of increasing costs for everyone else.

Plus, the entire reason why I got into these bundles is that I have a very tiny gaming budget.

To be fair, most of the games that make a debut in Humble Bundle sites had very good sales in the past.
So even if someone [like me] pay only a dollar to buy 5+ games, I don't think it will affect them.

However I know some others sites similar like Humble Bundles, that most of the games are unknown to us, very few times I know some games.

THESE games need more support than the games in Humble Bundle site.

But again, because they give me the opportunity to pay 1 dollar for 5-6 games, well, I will pay only the dollar.
I know this isn't fair for the developers, but they know as long they have this option for the buyers, they must face that many people they will do as I do:
They will pay as less as possible.

I am a cheap-ass gamer, what can I say....

I generally put in $10, which is always higher than the average, and leave it at default split. I would put in more if I could.
