All the money is already going to the charities and HB team; EA isn't taking a cent from the sales. Read the article.Charli said:Still boycotting EA games. Stance has not shifted nor will it anytime soon. (8 years and going strong baby)
YES EVEN FOR $1.
Actually I'd encourage everyone who buys it to put it all up on the charity/HB Team bar.
EA's HQ is in California, it's only natural they would want to support local charities. Also supporting any charity for a cause such as AIDS or Cancer has a knock on effect with with all others. Discoveries in one country are shared with others even if it's something as simple as how to make people more comfortable. If you really want to you can adjust the slider to give all your donation to one charity.VonKlaw said:At the risk of derailing this thread even further, I love that EA have done this (I didn't own any of the games before today) but why are four of the five charities American only?
This, quite frankly. EA aren't getting a penny and if you don't want to use Origin then don't, just pay your $1 and take the Steam keys. All they are asking for is a $6 donation to charity, doesn't matter if you take the codes or not, it's publicity.Scars Unseen said:Don't want to make use of this? Don't. But there is certainly nothing wrong with what EA is doing here. This is, in every way, a very good thing. Let's not tarnish the event with misplaced vitriol, hmm?

I've got to agree with TotalBiscuit, the complaining is at EA not the promotion. I'll grab one myself, its for charity and EA even gives steam codes (they could have forced all games into Origin). Credit where it's due, I tip my hat to you for once EA.The Plunk said:Wow. John Riccitiello wouldn't have allowed this!
Let's be honest, the real reason that EA is doing this is to get more people onto Origin and more people invested in their franchises. But, eh, what's the point in being cynical when you can get this many games for so cheap?
As TotalBiscuit just said on Twitter:
If Valve did it people would be nominating them for a Nobel Peace Prize
They don't. Games that require origin are only for Origin and don't come with Steam codes. So it's not double DRMing.Mr Ink 5000 said:wow, thats some amazing PR right there, thought Dead Space 3 was a typo when i saw the email.
i'm hoping the games with Steam keys don't need Origin. don't like to double DRM (and i've already redeemed the codes)

My god, you're right. Humble Bundle and EA deviously conspired to give away a bunch of EA's games in order to raise charity. How could I have missed such a despicable plot?Charli said:A deal somewhere was made behind closed doors no matter what is 'being said'.Zaydin said:All the money is already going to the charities and HB team; EA isn't taking a cent from the sales. And good, it should all go to charity. But what I mean is the damage was probably already done. I don't go to read something I know I'm not participating or pandering to.
I can give charity money through other avenues.
so i could just give the Origin keys away (ecept Dead Space 3) away and it wont effect my Steam copydaibakuha said:They don't. Also it's separate codes for all of the games on Origin and Steam, so it's technically like getting 2 copies of those games.
OT: Calling it now, Mass Effect 3 is gonna be in this bundle in a week or so.
