Random thing i was wondering about at work today. Are there any games that are comedies. I'll explain what i mean . Game that are written and designed to make people laugh ( or chuckle at the very least) , games that aren't really meant to be taken as seriously as other. Call of duty 1 ( for example ) is a serious game, it wasn't meant to be funny , Duke nukem 64 on the other hand ( as a contraste example ) is a parody and is essentially meant to NOT be taken too seriously.

So my question is : Do you know any games that were meant to be humourous and not be taken seriously? Games that are supposed to be funny.

And i don't mean games that have a single part that you found funny, i mean a game that as a whole was like a giant joke, or has comedic value.

For me only one ( other than Duke nukem ) comes to mind, Enchanted Arms. Now i personally don't know if ubisoft meant for that to be a serious game, but i found the game to be pretty halarious and good if you don't take it serious at all . The main character was a retard ( he really was ) , and his Co-stars , so to speak , was a transvestite and a bi-curious nerd ( all three were male). That was the main cast for Enchanted arms, and i found the game to be quite halarious , it was as if the game was a giant joke.

Your turn.

Borderlands was packed with cultural references, which I liked- and Knoxx and Zombie DLCs were so stupid it was just funny.

IMO, it's part of what made Borderlands enjoyable- the personality of the game shone through, and with characters whose mental states fit so well with the idea of being constantly pursued by skags or giant bugs.

I second this.

The humor and personality of the game really made me love it to pieces. The Zombie DLC had the best dark humor I've heard in a long time, and Mad Moxxi had some really great moments in it too.

The Monkey Island games, hands down. Albeit, I only played the third one and then the more recent episodic ones, they're still the funniest games I've ever played.

God dammit I want to play Curse of Monkey Island again, but I'm not about to install Windows 98.

SNIPPED REST
This. And I can't help but plug one of my favourite point&click games, Simon the Sorcerer. Can't remember if the Socialist termites are in 1 or 2...

And then there's Bard's Tale. Oh how I love Bard's Tale!

EIDT: forgot to spoiler it. And because I'm here already...

I always found the Jak games pretty funny. Every cut-scene tried to make you chuckle at least a little. Probably not a perfect example, but better than most.

Oh, and Vanguard Bandits on the PSOne had some funny moments. One of the game's paths was basically a comical take on the whole story.
"There is nothing humiliating about Number 69, Faulkner! You and Duyere should be proud! There are men across the Continent who would kill for the opportunity to try 69 for themselves! Now cease your complaints!"
"Dhis ATAC is vonderful! Never haff I been so owervhelmed by your genius, Madoc! I vill gladly sing dhe praises of 69 to anyone who vill listen!"
"You always were the most sensible man in the Imperial Army, Zakov."
"All of dhese fools vill succumb to dhe power of 69!"
"I can already envision a new term being coined in the aftermath of our victory today. When a foe is defeated in battle, the victor will cry out, 'And how did it feel to be 69ed?!'"
Yeah, I looked that dialog up. It'd from the actual game. I couldn't stop laughing and still remember it years later.

Another example:
"Leave here now, Imperial dogs, or suffer the wrath of the... Of the... What's the name again, Puck?"
"Terrifying InCognito Terrestrial Armored Combatant! Or TICTAC!!"
"Not exactly a name that will strike fear into my opponents' hearts. It makes me think of cool, refreshing mountain breezes... But that's just me."
[sub]I actually looked this one up.[/sub]

Love some of the games already mentioned, but not as much as my fave: Theme Hospital.
A sim hospital where the receptionist urges patients to not puke in the halls and have their checkbooks ready! :D

Breath of Death 7: The Beginning and Cthulhu Saves the World, both are hilarious, being parodies of old school RPGs, but at the same time get everything right, making them great RPGs on their own

You could always play the remastered original two on steam instead...

Also, has the OP never heard of the golden age of adventure games? Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, Space Quest, Monkey Island? Even more recent games like Time Gentlemen, Please! retain the comedic bent.

[HEADING=3]AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! ? A Reckless Disregard for Gravity[/HEADING]

It had a really, weird and somewhat demented take on comedy with things like the news anchor, the special blocks that give advise on things like time travel or how to relax, and even in game like when you die on the screen it says "Bones Broken: 100%" and how giving people the finger is a gameplay mechanic...<.<

These gentlemen (or ladies) are all ninjas.

Serisouly, I can't think of any more to add unless no one has mentioned Portal.

Well Conker of course

I second, third, fourth and fifth this.
To add something productive, Bulletstorm made me laugh quite a lot [as well as being, IMO a fucking fantastic game], so you definitely need to try that.

Ah yes, Hogs of War, imagine worms 3d, but good, with pigs, and every nationality is a stereotype voiced by Rik Mayall.

Well, pretty much all the classic Lucasarts and Telltale adventure games are humorous.

And to add somethin new:

Brütal Legend. Tim Schafer's humour, Jack Black's delivery and all embedded in Heavy Metal Maythology turned up to 11.

If you like only one of those three, you're in for a treat. I myself am a fan of Schafer and Black and I am a Metalhead, so I loved it.

Only downside is that the gameplay is a tad bland and they ran out of funds after 2/3rds of it, causing quite an aprupt end.
