Just found this one, I was gonna hurt Chief and heal Freeman to make a point that a silent antagonist is a much better character than a guy who only says one-liners that amount "Hey, check out my bravado."

Instead, I'd like to give my heal to Cortez, because when he says one liners people see that he is a ditz and the rest of the characters realize it as well. Because he's in reality not cool, and the game admits that, it in turn makes him cool. I call it the "Johnny Bravo" effect.

I thought THE MASTER CHIEF was an ordinary, pretentious super-suck. Can you think of other super-soldier or super-warrior type characters surrounded by fancy-schmancy, war-budget visuals and plotlines that are feeble and immature force-fed around orchestral, alternative dribble? The answer: I believe in you, members of the Escapist community.

While we're on the topic of characters that should be on this list, what about Samus Aran, or Solid Snake, or hell, how about Ryu from Street Fighter? I'm guessing this list balances current waves of nostalgia (Link, Mario, Pikachu) with new-age characters (Gordon Freeman, Niko Bellic) and others (Fontaine, Sgt. Cortez). I like this list, nonetheless, and am ready for my shot in round three.
