Actually, I think the farthest I'm willing to go in regards to games is Corpse Party. The game itself is pretty good but I would never watch the full anime series that was adapted from it. I watched a single scene and thinking about it still makes me feel sick to my stomach.
Oh yes, the anime is really gruesome. Why? Because they show all the gore that's really only implied in the games and every character gets a bad end. If you are sensitive, do NOT watch it. It will mess you up.
It's odd because I'm not usually sensitive to that kind of stuff and I'd actually gone looking for it foolishly thinking it might be a good horror anime. I don't know if what I saw was a trailer or a prologue but it was a single scene where the "camera" mostly focused on the surroundings but you could hear brutal things happening in the background. Since I played the game I had a good idea of what was happening and it was not a good time to have a vivid imagination.

Tower Defense... I don't know what it is specifically but the basic concept sounds like it's something that belongs on an Arcade machine in the 1980s that's designed to leak quarters out of your pocket. I love strategy games but this is like the boiled down rapid twitch version of those. They are quite popular, and every time I see one on Steam it gets these overwhelmingly positive reviews but I can't bring myself to ever play one (except for Unholy Heights because it tricked me with it's monster hotel management sim before revealing it's dastardly tower defense ways).

MOBA. I don't necessarily have anything against them, but they lack any sort of lasting presence for me to care about. Any game that you can spend the unholy number of hours on where you have zero impact on a story or world is just awful to me. I don't want to replay the same battle over and over, and to me fighting in a game is never ABOUT the fighting, it's why I am fighting. A battle should mean something, like if I take over a castle I should own that castle until such time as someone else takes it from me, not because some arbitrary time limit or win condition was met.

I refused to touch Dragon Age 2 with a ten foot pole.

Instead, I picked it up with my hands, put it in my PC, and played it to completion.

Wasn't bad, actually. 8/10

7/10, perhaps! :I

OT: World of Warcraft. Ah cannae fathom it. That and Steel Battalion. For the latter, it's more a case of confusion over how the company behind it wasn't sued to Spain.

School Days? I freaking love that tale.

I have lived that tale, albeit I didn't have sex with 8 people, but I know first-hand how someone who is on the road to becoming your best friend listens to your troubles, learns that you like someone, they help you become that person's boyfriend, and then your best friend suddenly gets friendlier, and friendlier, and friendlier, till you find yourself wondering what the hell to do! And I can totally connect with the main character in that series cause he was just like me at the time. I had NO experience in girls. My best friend GAVE me the opportunity to gain experience, but I never learned how to EXIT a relationship, so when there were times when the problem could've been resolved with 'sit down and just talk' I couldn't! I panicked, I was weak, and in the end I hurt my best friend AND my girlfriend by letting it spiral out of control. And my best friend and girlfriend didn't help because they just selfishly tried their hardest to be with me, no matter who it hurt.

Regardless, School Days the game would've been perfect if there wasn't sex. I mean sex is great to know about, cause people become closer chemically and mentally, it's a bond that nothing can beat, but they made it a hentai game with porn-like crap, so it became ruined.

'Traditional Combat' MMOS - That's shorthand for '0-9 Your character will stand still in one spot and do a cast animation and you'll have no real agency in how your character dodges, moves, etc'. See: World of Warcraft. You can move while casting, but you can't actually dodge - you can only stack enough of whatever damage mitigation or whatever they use now a days and pray for the best.

Tera and Vindictus have spoiled me.

Also, Spore. Literally the worst understanding of evolution ever.
It's a bad game and there's plenty of reasons to dislike it, like how every part of the game is a disappointing and poorly fleshed out waste of time that's little more than a mini-game. It had so much potential but threw every bit of it away.

That it does not accurately represent evolution is one of the least relevant reasons to dislike it that I have ever heard. That's like hating GTA because dual-wielding SMGs and being accurate doing it is unrealistic.

things I would not touch with a 10 foot pole and why

any COD game: A. the fan base has a high toxicity level b. the rest of the TF2 community (aka the TF2 forums) would murder me in my sleep

any EA game : Fuck you EA

dark souls franchise: gamer with bad temper who has thrown controllers around and at people + game known for being crazy hard = homicide

dating sims : not even gonna talk about this one

So many good ones here.
Among others here, I will agree with HuniePop and School Days.

My choice, you ask?
Oh, I'll fucking show it to you, and if you follow this rabbit hole, it will take you to somewhere you will never want to go again!

The figure in the image?
It isn't something good.
It is something to FEAR!

This is Saya no Uta. Yes, another Visual Novel, I know.
Trust me on this one though ... this isn't like the others. This isn't about yandere girls, or over the top sexuality. This thing goes beyond that and into the depths of darkness.

Fine, I'll admit it.
I liked reading it, and as a hopeful writer, it really intrigued me. The only way you will understand me, is if you read it.
Just ... take a truckload of salt with this. The VN has many things that will probably disgust you ... I know I certainly was disgusted in some scenes.

what ? School Days has perfectly happy endings. You just have to find them.
And the best good ending of course is this one!
