Not gonna lie I really do want to see Trekkie get made. Though I'm trying to think, given that a show like 'Big Bang Theory' is one of the most popular shows on TV, would now be the perfect time for such a movie or is it the exact wrong time. Either way, I still want it.

Anywho, Bottlenose could have been interesting, if only as a vehicle to get the word out to the wide-eyed idealists of the world who missed the memo about dolphins. As an actual movie... well, there's a reason I haven't even gotten up the interest to watch Jaws. Though, hell, pitch it to Spielberg as a bait-and-switch actual sequel to Jaws, keeping the twist completely hidden from the audience instead of putting it right there in the title, and it might work.

As bad as "Beaver" sounds, it's nowhere near as bad as a movie that actually got made: Killer Shrews [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052969/]. Featuring the best in 1950's "science", starring a scientist working to reduce humans to half their usual size (to reduce food consumption and prevent worldwide starvation) somehow managing to alter shrews into growing ten times their normal size, requiring that they eat three times their own body weight in food daily or starve to death. Oh, and half the movie is spent watching the lead characters guzzle booze.

There's a reason Mystery Science Theater 3000 picked this movie to riff.

I really, genuinely like the idea of Bottlenose, as I too have a fascination with the way Dolphins are such impressibly huge assholes. As far as I can recall, Bottlenoses actually have to be separated from other dolphins at aquariums, because otherwise they will fucking beat the shit out of them.

Trekkie sounds like it would be a great comedy movie.

Beaver just sounds suicide-inducingly painful.

It's funny you mentioned that one about the Dolphin. I can't remember the name of the movie, but back in the early 90's (I think) there was a comedy movie, where one of the sub-plots was that a company was making a movie in the area about a giant dolphin that had rabies.

The Beavers one sounds delightfully goofy in vein of many older giant creature features, like rabbits, shrews, rats, etc. The Bottlenose one though sounds like an actual film (or be it Orca/SYFY in tone) and made more sense than 'Deep Blue Sea'. Personally I would call in 'Dolphiend'...

People like Bottlenoses because they look like they're always smiling, right? You know who else looks like he always smiles? The Joker.
And as interesting as Trekkie sounds, you'd have to get a metric fuckton of people on board with this to use their intellectual properties in the story, and it could have some Unfortunate Implications about us geeks to "normal" people (using the "People Are Dumb" Principle). Unless there's a message about fantasy vs. reality and how the vast majority of us geeks are quite pleasant people, in which case, green light that. Any of you other guys recall that CSI episode with the murder taking place at a STAR TREK knock-off convention?

I would definitely watch The Trekkie but it reads more like a black-humour comedy than a horror movie.

The Trekkie actually sounds pretty awesome...good luck with getting the rights to use the IP's of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who etc. I don't think they would come cheap considering the 'message' of the movie (crazy fans of popular sci-fi are homicidal).

However, Bottlenose sounds too similar to that one horror-themed mini-episode of The Simpsons
