Also, you could could use a mod like 'Martigen's Monster Mod' which simply replaces the few difficult monsters with many easier monsters (which also makes fights quicker and more intense). Also try to max your 'endurance' skill, as this greatly increases your health, and your 'willpower' will increase the fatigue you have, aswell as the regenration speed of your magika (thus you can cast more spells more quickly and also run / shoot / block for longer with it losing its effectiveness)

I always thought the game was unlosable. Then again, I'm playing a typical brawny Nord tank, with the heaviest armor and tons of HP, so it's kind of difficult to die with a straightforward character like that. I suspect that mage and archer classes simply require more finesse to play. If you've got lots of Speed, try running away and spamming ranged attacks. It's probably going to take some time, but it seems your character isn't built for taking punishment.

Also, I suspect archery in Oblivion sucks. If you don't like warriors, I'd go for a mage and try to learn some heavy damage spells or summon monsters to fight for you.

Personally, I never found careful levelling appealing and always just went for a level up ASAP. But if the game gets unplayable as you progress, that might be suggesting you have to fine tune a bit. Min/max, specialize.

Specialise in Sneak and the game will be a breeze.

Believe me, it's true.

Try and build up on endurance or sneak, either one. And enchanting can be done through Mages Guild at the arcane university. You need soul gems and a fair amount of gold. Sigil stones from Oblivion work too, but try and get them after increasing endurance or you'll just get more stuck.

I had a friend who was dying constantly. She started again, taking good note of what options she made that time. But not everyone wants to start again from a slow and weak lvl 1 character.

Quite simply turn the difficulty down. If you're using the PC version, get a mod like Midas Magic so you can get some cool spells to help even an archer, or some other mod that can give you cool weapons/armor and such.

Under the options menu, go to gameplay and you will see a slider called "difficulty", but I like to call it the "Epicness Meter". Put it all the way to the left if you want to feel like a god. Also, with marksman, it's always a good idea to level up Sneak so you can do huge damage to enemies far away. Don't even let them know you're there ;)
"Epicness Meter" Outstanding!!! I applaud you. "golf clap" I will never look at that bar the same way again.

If you're already an archer character then focus (at least a little) on sneak and speed and not just agility. This game is a breeze with the right tactics. Only problem is that it will most likely take like 10 arrows to down EVERY enemy at higher levels which is pretty damn annoying. Just keep "kiting" them and you should be fine (might be hard on a console if that's where you're playing it).

I could use some pointers please because I always fail at stuff in general by dying so easily after level 13. I get pwned like I am a noob. I am not exactly the greatest at RPG's but I am not bad at them either.

Btw, I hate close combat and like being a magician or an archer.

If you could give me some uhh pointers that would be helpful.

My problem is that later on everything just doesn't die for me and in 3 hits I basically die. I have not been a character passed lvl 14 because I die by a creature that kills me quickly in a cave. It might be because I dont know how to enchant and ect.

Edit: I have a marksman who has max agility and speed basically. Would it be better to have as much cameleon as possible?
Just buy a cheap invisibility spell with a low cost (just look around in the mages guilds). Then just be a stealth character. If detected, just cast invisibility, and the enemies will completely forget about you. Then just get another good spot and get another stealth hit in. Then recast invisibility, etc. etc. Having some poisons is useful as well, yay for alchemy. Game is easy mode this way, though. You could try to actually sneak around without the spell, and use it as a last restort if you still want to have some challenge.

When arching just sneak and line up that critical headshot, if they're still standing shoot again, if they're still standing run backwards and spam shots, if you die then there is something very, very wrong.

Never really like Marksman, wasn't good in caves.

I have a good idea, learn a paralyse spell, so if they get too close, simply paralyse and run away again.

Certainly is. You can simply avoid any monsters too hard to fight.

Also, a good bow to get would be the one from the Dark Brotherhood questline.

'nuff said.
This. You should also try to get access to magic, no matter what your character happens to be. Being a pure fighter that solves every problem with weapon-assisted butchery is fine, but magic can greatly enhance your versatility and combat strength no matter what your build.

okay, download an arrow velocity mod, then a mod to stop level scaling, then an arrow dmg increase mod.
get this at www.tesnexus.com
that should fix your archer problem,

Sneak + Archery is a great combo. I'd stay with that if you like ranged combat. Your magic spells should compliment your archery, so anything that keeps enemies in one place is good.

Better yet, get a level-adjuster mod like KCAS so that you don't have to worry about the stupid "efficient leveling" problem built into the design. Min/maxing when you're not a warrior character doesn't just break the immersion, it sends it to get shot then grinds it up and feeds it to its son in chili while licking away its son's yummy tears. So get KCAS, because Oblivion Leveling Must Die.
While I agree with you 100%, the OP never mentioned if s/he was playing Oblivion on the Xbox or PC, so I chose the 'safe' suggestion that could apply regardless of platform.

Fransico's Mod to fix the levelling BS. No telepathic guards mod if you fancy murdering anyone discreetly (vanilla oblivion is ridiculous in that regard). Oh and personally I'd advise the FasterHorses mod if you like not using Fast Travel *AND* getting places in less than and hour.
All those can be found via Google or texnexus.com.
