Either damage control or the previous statement was a test to see if there was a market for a PC version.

All this tells me is that our backlash had some affect, maybe he read his hate mail and said "oh shit" or maybe he got chewed out by his boss, either way, it pleases me that our anger did not fall on deaf ears
Hmmm....true. I suppose I could take some comfort in that.

Well, that's bad PR.
Firing him would've been a great PR trick. Old, full of crap but amusing.
Is there even a point to this? No one's gonna buy the "ME NO ENGLISH!".
Of course there's a point. I hadn't heard of this game before I heard it was not coming for PC. Now I have heard of it and now they are saying it might come for PC. They have accomplished to create some free marketing for their game, create a controversy around it and they make PC gamers more willing to buy it either because they want to prove them wrong in their predictions that it wouldn't sell very well or because they're happy that it gets released at all.

This works both as a survey to see if there is interest for the game based on watching traffic on sites that posted the news and briefly overlooking comments made regarding the news and as a PR stunt. As far as it goes this is very healthy for them even though it sounds crazy.

Ubisoft backtracking on a dickish remark to the PC community?

Wow, that's the third time in as many days that I've used that GIF in as many days. Ubisoft are getting really predictable.
Maybe Ubisoft can keep up this track record for another 27 days so you get your time's worth out of that thing.

OT and related to the above: Maybe tomorrow the guy who came out guns blazing about axing Ghost Recon on PC will back-track too, since he said almost the same thing as this guy did.

Even if English isn't your first language, you don't say bitching without knowing exactly what it means. I mean, if you don't know what it means, are you sure you should be designing games that are going to be sol in English?
That is a bitching argument you made right there. But do you really know how bitching it is to be able to make a game that thousands of people are going to be playing and thousands more are going to be bitching about?

Do you see what I did there? If not like A LOT of words in the English language there are a bunch of slang definitions for a word like bitching. To complain is the most common while to be awesome is probably the next best known one. If you really want to ***** about a guys choice of words when English isn't his first language. Learn that English is THE HARDEST second language to learn because of things like slang.

i was really thinking we should sue ubi for showing us pc gamers the finger. thats like discrimination towards us. but well, they just saved them self. for now...

Too late to save that ball drop. Luckily most of the pissy PC gamers have already decided to either pirate games or not buy them so it shouldn't make any difference. Honestly, gamers are bitchy and I'd like to actually see companies actually come out and flat out call out things they don't like. PR can bite me.

Hah, I don't want to rag on the company because one of it's peers went crazy for a minute, but this is hilarious. They should really learn to keep their representatives in line. I also can't shake the feeling that every time this happens it's actually an elaborate market research scheme. You know, see how many people will start bitching to evaluate your potential sales.

Still, I won't give them benefit of the doubt because:

a) it's Ubisoft (in addition to their attitude towards PC gamers they haven't really made a good PC game since AC II, maybe Heroes VI)

b)this

It's funny, because I thought a slang word like "Bitching" would have been very tough to mis-translate.

BULL. FUCKING. SHIT. Quebecois can speak English just fine you lying son of a *****. Don't try pulling the goddamn french card asshole. You are a fucking PR representative. ENGLISH is the language that most of your customers speak.
Poetry, Soviet Heavy dear friend. Poetry.

Yeah. I'm not convinced by this PR stunt at all. Pretty much it's only sealed my disinterest in the game.

Ubisoft PR,I choose you!

Ubisoft PR uses backtracking
It's not very effective

Ubisoft,if you're going to spit in our faces,at least be a man about it and admit it,don't look away and point at someone else.

LMFAO, after they called 95% of all PC gamers pirates they claim it's a translation error?
Except you know, that part's actually TRUE?

Bohemia Interactive, they received 100 pirated connection attempts for MP for every 1 legit attempt. No wonder they hate the 'PC-Only' people, the rest of us will buy whatever platforms we like and not whinge about everything as if god himself gave us a right to play video games.
