Bleh, I hate playing team objective-based games because a lot of other people in online multiplayer are assholes so I dont want to work with them I just want to shoot at them, and multiplayer for me is always for a "quick blast" of mindless entertainment to fill the gaps inbetween singleplayer gaming. Deathmatch works best for this, so I almost exclusively play Deathmatch on the very rare occasions when I'm playing multiplayer.

My inherent mindset of the way I view and utilize Multiplayer in general makes me really not want to think too much while I'm playing. It's for letting loose and just having a very simple and purely reflex-based game until im mentally worn out.

I miss Tribes, I miss Planetside, I miss Unreal Tournament.

These games MADE team based gameplay. CTF(Capture the flag), KOTH(King of the Hill), TD (Team Deathmatch).
God I miss Tribes 2. Also you forgot Assault (UT).

The problem is exacerbated by the difficulty of coordinating with team mates you don't personally know.

I'd love to play games like Operation Flashpoint or Rainbow Six with people and actually be strategic. Sadly there is no way that's going to actually happen.
I hope you don't mean Rainbow Six's online, because that was the least tactical multiplayer I've ever played. (Speaking of Vegas 2 here, can't say for the others.)

I got most kills by just running and firing from the hip.
Meant Co-op actually. Playing Terrorist hunt tactically sounds a hell of a lot more fun than doing what my friends did (i.e. run around firing wildly, die, respawn, repeat). Just about any shooter, really, is more fun to me if the people can be tactical. Failing that, I'd like to have a squad based shooter with competent AI. Haven't seen one yet.
