I am thinking about getting an ipad, does anyone know if they are worth the money and if not why not?
Thank you for your input i am fairly anti apple myself but the ipad looks interesting.Willwillwritehiswill said:Be wary. The Escapist, while a great place for discussions of all kinds, tends to be very anti-apple.
The ipad looks like a pretty bit of gear, comparing it to a netbook, you'd probably get more mileage out of the netbook. But, from most people, I've heard there's no easier or better way of surfing the internet. Games are just started to get interesting on the idevices so i'd say it's worth a look-in, but i personally couldn't justify buying something like an ipad while my netbook works fine and plays starcraft.
thanks for your thoughts i was thinking it`s a bit steep price-wiseKorten12 said:My Mom bought a good laptop for less then half of the price of a iPad. I say its probably not worth it, and the laptop has a touch screen.
Let me also add. if/when you're resolved to buying one, hold off for a few months. Apple may release a new ipad, and guaranteed you'll feel like a fool not owning the latest shiny apple gadget.crobulator said:Thank you for your input i am fairly anti apple myself but the ipad looks interesting.

Good guess but i have other devices for tinkering with (old pc`s and laptops)hawkeye52 said:apple is overpriced for what you can get with an ordinary computer. also if you are one of those people who likes to be able to fix or modify software then you can forget it with the ipad since you cant do either with apple software in general
The TV and Monitor industries have been doing this for their entire existence and I've yet to seem THEM called out on it.Bluesclues said:The way I like to look at it, despite how many people try to deny it, is like a giant iTouch with a few more capabilities.
I agree however i'm kind of a convert to the tablet thing now and will get one after I see the first honeycomb and playbook reviews.RAKtheUndead said:No, they're not worth the money. They're decidedly worse than a comparable - and probably cheaper netbook, with an operating system that has several million less applications than Windows 7, sub-par multitasking and which needs to be tethered to a PC anyway.crobulator said:...does anyone know if they are worth the money and if not why not?

But then I guess mindlessly bashing them wouldn't make you "cool".
