Regarding #3, when/if you play through again and side with the templars, everything makes a whole lot more sense with Orsino. I won't spoil it, but it makes it much less silly and forced.

Of course, then Meredith's nonsense seems sillier, but you've got the crazy-inducing artifact cop out so that's at least bearable.

Anyone getting tired of "The hero MUST die!" endings and if they live it's a life of shame?

I was a little underwhelmed as well, though I still enjoyed the game. I went into my reasons in another post, but I felt a lot more could have been done with the little things in this game, like the arrival of the Qunari, or time passing. The ending also annoyed me as well, and not just the cliff-hanger.

I was a little disappointed that here was no middle of the road option. It could work I think after the chantry gets magic nuked and it's clear there is no way for the conflict to be settled between Orsino and Meridith, Hawke Steps in kills them both and is made viscount by the people or the noble's I guess, this might not change the ending too much since the Templars make you Viscount if you side with them anyway. Course that would kind of not cause the BIG change that has been hinted at through out both games.

Hm...my Warden never died in Origins, but I'd be a little annoyed by Leliana's comment at the end too. I never thought about that.

I can understand Orsino turning to blood magic. He just watched everyone under his care be murdered for a crime THEY didn't commit. He's backed into a corner with death staring him in the face. Given the choice, I would think most people would rather fight and live (if you can call that living) than submit to an unjust death. Throw in the fact that all his pride and anger have come bubbling to the surface, and you have a very good chance of him doing what he did. What I DIDN'T understand was why he turned into that creature from Golems of Argamak. Um...what?
Fair point, but I would have imaged that after seeing the champion of Kirkwall turn a bunch of templars into meat chucks he would of had a more hopeful view of what the outcome could be.
