I'm going to keep this short. Although I'm not the kind of person to listen to motivational speeches, I believe we should all have a kick-ass day.
We're on the same page, here. If pithy motivational phrases were all it took to fuel ambition and confidence, we'd all be ubermensch living on colonies across the universe, and would shout encouraging slogans at our significant others in bed in lieu of having sex. All recreational drugs would be effectively made obsolete by MP3 players full of sad shit like this:Woodsey said:Well that was embarrassing for all involved.
Let's just try and forget it.

Yeah, i agree with these people. Thanks, but... yeah, some words in a forum are not going to make me change my view on life. Thanks for trying though.Woodsey said:Well that was embarrassing for all involved.

I'm a little disappointed to be quite honest.ww666 said:Thought it was gonna be a fart joke.
The fact that you took the time to read my post made my day, and that is all the recognition that I would ever need. I salute you good sir. And thank you, everybody. Hope this has made someone´s day better.Koeryn said:Curse my inability to favorite, vote you up, or give you any form of recognition beyond this post lamenting my inability to properly recognize you for your quite wonderful post.
Have a Kickassome life.

You cannot hope to beat everything, knowing when to quit is a valuable lesson. I sincerely mean that.[/QUOTE]
Also this. The original post is a touching sentiment, but also delightfully useless, incredibly condescending and mariginally insulting ("all you need to do is believe in yourself"), and all it evokes in me is a role of the eyes. It takes a little bit more than that.
I hate myself. I really do. Everyone at some level hates themselves. It's what drives you to better yourself. You hate yourself because you're fat, so you eat healthier and exercise to change yourself. You hate yourself because you have a shitty job, so you go to school and get a better job. You hate yourself because you're alone, so you find someone to share your life with. This is how this whole human thing works. You try, you fail, you get pissed and you try again. If you loved yourself, you would have no motivation to change or do anything with your life. Though I applaud your attitude, don't tell people not to hate themselves. You failed, you're a ***** and you hate yourself for it. This self hatred is what causes people to work to better themselves. Don't tell them they're going to succeed, tell the will never amount to anything and they will prove you wrong.flyingviking said:This is for you.
Yes you, the young man/woman who are going through life. You, the main protagonist in your own, awesome story; your life.
This is for you.
I am not a heavy contributor on the Escapist. Hell, I am not a heavy contributor on any public forums, on the internet or in real life. I silently watch other people make up their opinions, discuss, scream and tear at each other. I gather facts for myself, and through time, if I see the need, I make a contribution in hope that it will make things better. This is one of them. And it is for you.
I watch young people, such as myself, battle their way through life, meeting obstacle upon obstacle, complaining, crying, looking down upon one self. Thinking worse about one self and letting destructive thoughts take control of your life, because you could not overcome one specific obstacle, or achieve one specific goal.
Well.
Life is hard. No doubt about it. But you are not doing anyone a favor by thinking that you suck, or that you are letting yourself down or anyone around you. The obstacles and challenges you meet in life forms you, and they are there for a reason. If you think everything is against you and life is to random, well, it isn´t.
Every challenge you meet, tests your character. It tests your will. And if you break, you do not lose. You experience. You learn. You form. You become stronger, wiser and tougher. You win in a whole different realm; your own personal development. Hard-learned experience is hard to come by, and when the shit hits the fan, you should be grateful. Because it makes you a more badass person. And because you are the most awesome person in your life, and everything life throws at you, you can beat. Even if it does not seem like that at the moment.
If you fail, you learn, and you beat that shit the next time. You will, I absolutely guarantee it.
Meeting, adapting and overcoming challenges is what life is all about. You will win at it. Because that´s what you are; a stubborn, strong-willed, mad-as-a-f***** winner. You beat the 10 million other sperm cells so that you could be awesome and win at life. Don´t give up when life starts to test you. Pick up your shit and start fighting. Beat that f***er.
If what I have said makes a difference to just one person, then this day just got a whole lot more awesome.
Have a great day, and a kick-ass life.
...The only thing i got from that was a bunch of cliches and a punch in the face of sheer amazement and a rather large feeling of endearment.flyingviking said:snip.
