I can now play gamecube games on my PC. What old underrated game should I play first?

I could just revisit the greats. Metroid Prime (sure, I'll play through that a 7th time, why not?) or Windwaker or Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil 4, F-Zero: GX, Prince of Persia, etc. Or I could take that most revered controller into my hands and play something I may have heard was excellent years ago but eventually forgot about, never tasting its greatness. Any recommendations?

EDIT: Current list of get.

Alien Hominid
Defender (Not suggested but listed anyway. Seriously, why wasn't this suggested?)
Ikaruga
Killer 7
Luigi's Mansion
Pikmin 1+2
Reign of Fire
Rogue Squadron 2+3
SUPER! SMAAAASH BROTHERS! MELEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness - Sanity's Requiem
Lost Kingdoms
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Cubivore
Beyond Good & Evil
Custom Robo
Viewtiful Joe 1+2+Red Hot Rumble

If something amazing was suggested and not in that list (Tales of Symphonia) it's probably because I already played it twice.

I nominate Tales of Symphonia. As long as you like/don't mind the JRPG genre, it's a must-play - it's fun, with a strong plot and fun characters, and it doesn't devolve into the major cliches of the genre (it even subverts a lot of them!). And, the cherry on top, it even has real time combat rather than turn-based.

Def Jam: Fight for NY is an EXTREMELY underrated fighting game.
I second that. It is over the top, stupid fun. I will never forget Redman's pre-fight taunt [http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=v0sivxFZYl8#t=20s].

Try the Timesplitters series. It was on Gamecube if I'm not mistaken. And is underrated as hell.

Timesplitters, and most of their exclusives....

Dont know much about the Gamecube, I just know that Timesplitters is in it.
You can also play PS2 if it handles Dolphin, Xbox is sadly the only last-gen console that cant yet be played on a PC. There are some really cool/weird Xbox exclusives that I would like to put my hands on again since the 360 doesnt has some compatibility issues.

I'm not sure how underrated they are, but I suggest Ikaruga and Alien Hominid, both of which are great games.

I should warn you, both games are very, VERY hard, but considering you've apparently played freakin' F-Zero GX, that may not be an issue.

It's not underrated, but Skies of Arcadia is definitely underplayed, and it's one of the best RPGs ever made.

In before someone tries to label "emulation is immoral piracy and please ban OP for piracy" junk. There's a lot of PC gamers here, I'm surprised there aren't more people open minded to emulation. I wouldn't be a PC gamer if it weren't for emulation. I guess people who use emulators aren't counted as PC gamers.

On that note. Emulation is not piracy. And when emulation is piracy, I think it reflect's Gabe Newell's so called "service problem". People have wanted to play console genres like Platformers, Shoot em' Ups, Fighting games, Japanese RPGs, Survival Horror games, and other games on the PC for a while now. But haven't easily been able to thanks to consoles, bios, difficult disc technology, and all of the things which can make legal emulation a hassle.

Whereas just downloading them and playing them like they do with Steam is easy. This is why most console games deserve to be on services like Steam. Emulation wouldn't be such a big part of PC gaming if it weren't for the fact that so many games are console exclusive.

As for what to emulate, I'm biased in favor of Tales of Symphonia. It is an amazing game that needs to have more people playing it.

Some next recommendations would be some obvious titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

Some people are PC gamers. I personally prefer to play console games on the PC and have for years.

Since the 1990s, in fact.
Well you can also say that buying a gamecube now isn't going to help fund nintendo any since they've long since stopped production and honestly they probably want less purchase of that and more purchase of remakes they'd kicking out.

Pretty much any game I would have recommended has been mentioned....well, except Luigi's Mansion, I loved that game. One of the really rare occurrences where Luigi is the main character and the game isn't puke-tastically awful or boring.

But I will add that you better buy a physical copy of the game before you play it on your emulator.

Young, naive and stupid me from the past(10 years ago) would have told you to do whatever the hell you want, but mature me knows that emulation is wrong if you don't own a copy of the game.

Rogue Leader, Rogue Leader, Rogue Leader, Rogue Leader. It is literally mankind's greatest achievement to date. Have you played Rogue Leader yet? Why aren't you playing Rogue leader. STOP READING THIS AND PLAY ROGUE LEADER!!!

Also, if you want a quick adrenalin shot of concentrated fun you could try Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat. Though if you can't play with the bongos then just don't bother.

You're joking, right? Everyone knows that there are only two Sonic the Hedgehog games: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Beyond the Metroid Primes and F-Zero GX (which honestly is probably best on the Gamecube anyway since it depends a bit on a flawless framerate and the idiosyncrasies of the GCN controller), I'd recommend Killer7, Baten Kaitos (the first title, not Origins) and Timesplitters 2 (since it would probably control better on PC anyway).

If you're up for a seriously old-school difficulty rush, then give P.N.03 a shot - it's not the most polished game, but has some of the most challenging (and fair!) gameplay of its generation.

I'd love to recommend Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, but that game depends on the GCN-GBA connectivity, so I doubt an emulator will make it work properly.

EDIT: Wow, I can't believe I missed Rogue Leader and DK Jungle Beat. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance as well, it's the best in the series.

While they can't say jack about it if you buy what's already out there because it is in circulation, they can however, if they feel like it, sue you out the ass for downloading an playing their property for free(legally, it doesn't mean crap if they aren't making money off it anymore), especially a game that they have re-released on another system, like on the virtual console.

That is why I recommended in my other post that before emulation, a person should at least buy a copy of the game they are emulating.
