I can now play gamecube games on my PC. What old underrated game should I play first?

I also have Dolphin. I decided to play Wind Waker again as it looks so much better in HD!!!
How the hell did you get it to run at a consistent 30fps?! Some games are even unplayable (Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime) on my rig and I've got a brand new 13" MacBookPro. Any tips?
Intel i7 dual core 2.9GHz
8GB RAM
Intel HD 4000 (512MB VRAM)
Even if it was perfectly optimized code a Game Cube game is probably too much for Intel graphics.

It wouldn't be the graphics card. I can run Deus Ex: Human Revolution on this with low-mid settings and Bioshock on full.

Alright, because you said underrated, I have to say Beyond Good & Evil.

I just bought it a little while ago and I've been playing through it recently. I'm fairly far along and I now wonder why I never bought it in the first place. This game is really good. I think my favorite thing is the balance of the game. If you liked Wind Waker, there are similar photo based goals in the game, and they are well implemented. The setting is just futuristic enough to feel real but still alien, there is a good mix of stealth, action, and exploration involved, goals are straightforward, bonus stuff is fun, characters are likeable, graphics look good, soundtrack is great, I could go on. The only thing you may not like is that it's a pretty easy game, though I think that's good because it gives more focus towards the story and the mechanics over difficulty. I love this game and recommend anyone try it.

At this time I would also recommend NOT playing Starfox Adventures.

Super Smash Brothers: Melee

The only GCN game (out of maybe 40) that I paid good money for that I ever played more than once. That console had good hardware and so much potential. Shame they couldn't sign a single worthy title for the damn thing.

Pikmin was good too. Worth one full playthrough, though nothing changes each time so no replay value. I was told Pikmin 2 was better, but by that time my dog ate the power supply (the AC end. while it was still plugged in. seriously. and she survived, too.)

Ok, I know it wasn't a gamecube exclusive, but I played it on the Gamecube first and only so to me it may as well be.

It always makes me happy when someone mentions this game :) though I had it on xbox and bought it new for $90 (Being Australian and all) Fantastic game and I wish those sequels did happen.

OT: Unfortunately all my suggestions have all been taken. Maybe a mario party or two.

Lost kingdoms, just do it. Trust me, it is my favourite game of all time.
Also you can play gamecube games on your pc? i can play them on my fucking gamecube.
Yeah, but can you play Super Smash Brothers online? I spent all last night playing against a friend in the next state.

I nominate Tales of Symphonia. As long as you like/don't mind the JRPG genre, it's a must-play - it's fun, with a strong plot and fun characters, and it doesn't devolve into the major cliches of the genre (it even subverts a lot of them!). And, the cherry on top, it even has real time combat rather than turn-based.
Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia are my two favorite JRPGs. But I disagree about the cliche subversion. Hometown devastated by baddies? Check. Clumsy, cute, willful, tragic girl with the fate of the world on her shoulders? Check. Villain trying to destroy the world for the sake of resurrecting dead female family member? Checkaroo. Vesperia had less of that, I'll grant. I liked it better but they are both great.

Its a dolphin emulator. You make ISOs of your gamecube discs. You cannot use a gamecube pad, but you can blue tooth a Wii controller and plug in the Classic Controller I think.

I just use the 360 controller. I have the wireless adapter.
I use a gamecube controller :p.

My list of 'must plays' for the gamecube are:

Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Tales of Symphonia
Super Mario Sunshine
Luigi's Mansion
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Timesplitters 2
Spiderman 2
Reign of Fire
Skies of Arcaida
Lost Kingdoms
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Get the hell out of my head. That's almost my exact list as well. I thought I was the only one who played (and enjoyed) Reign of Fire. Why the hell don't we get more games like that? You're a goddamn dragon and you vomit fire on everything. How is that not 50% of all games? There's what...Spyro? I mean come ON.

I'm not sure how underrated they are, but I suggest Ikaruga and Alien Hominid, both of which are great games.

I should warn you, both games are very, VERY hard, but considering you've apparently played freakin' F-Zero GX, that may not be an issue.
Already put those games under my belt too, but I've downloaded them as well so I can experience them again.

You know, I tried playing Wind Waker on Dolphin, but no matter how I configured the graphic plugins, all fire was just this see through blurry mess that REALLY made it hard to head-ache inducing to navigate the volcano...

OP updated with list of games I've gotten since starting this thread. Some I've already had the pleasure of but have re-acquired for nostalgia's sake. Thanks for all the great suggestions guys!

You might wanna check if Tales of Symphonia works properly on Dolphin. I tried to play it a few months ago and the sound was really messed up, I dunno if the Dolphin devs fixed that yet.

I did not read the whole thread, maybe somebody said it already.
Assuming you like the games you listed you could try
Twilight Princess
A lot of people forget it was released for gamecube too.

The "cliche subversion" is that the plot twist of the game relies on completely subverting most of the "tropes" at the beginning of the game. There's a lot of "it was all a lie" revelations.

Tales of Symphonia would have been pretty cliche if it remained with what the beginning of the game had. Instead, they unveiled to us a much larger and more complicated world.

Def Jam: Fight for NY is an EXTREMELY underrated fighting game.
I couldn't agree more! The brutality in that game was fantastic. It's also very very underrated. Although, the best part for me was playing with my friends on the couch, due to the laughably cheesy and short story-line. And that's going to be a bit of a problem when using an emulator. But I suppose the over-the-top finishing moves and the smashing your opponent's head with a car door are still very enjoyable.

Thanks for making me reminisce about that fantastic game, Nose! I'm actually thinking of getting a NGC with this game and several others

Well how about I suggest a few things that are unconventional? You did say underrated, right? Well, if you're using an emulator, you can really find some rare stuff without the price tag.

Yugioh Falsebound Kingdom - requires that you like (or liked as a kid) YGO, but it's a surprisingly accessible and fun mix of a strategy game and a turn-based rpg.

Amazing Island - better monster creator than Spore, with lots of unique things you can do. Unfortunately, there's not too much to do with them once you have created them other than Mario-Party-style singleplayer minigames. Enjoyable for the whims of an emulator.

Phantasy Star Online 1+2 - Maybe you can't play it online, but you can still play single-player. A port of the first online multiplayer console RPG EVER. Even in single-player, it is a surprisingly long game with a lot of content and not too much grinding imho.

Soul Calibur 2 - if it hasn't been mentioned. All-time best single-player modes in a fighting game outside the Smash Bros. series. With the advent of online player, single-player in fighting games has typically become just a one-shot story mode. But SC2 really put their all into it.

Well ty to the op i didn't realize that this was a thing. Now i can have a shot at the Zelda and Metroid titles i was unable to play. Plus I'll get another shot at the RE Remake and Luigi's Mansion too.
