So, the dad was 75, and the mum was 26, when they had the kid. Just sayin'.

I say no.
Why? Because the parent has the power to do whatever she wants with her child, and her child seems to enjoy it.
Yes, she's been fed all this shit for years, and she's probably really fucked up, but to "fix" her, would take YEARS for a psychologist to deal with, and then there is the problem of all that botox.

But she does represent a big problem with what "beauty" seems to equate to these days. I work with a girl that has more makeup on than a cosmetics store, wears high-heals that she even admits hurt alot, and wears clothes that are very uncomfortable "I just need to lose a few extra pounds, and they'll fit just perfect!"
I really hope the days of "beauty is only skin deep" don't die =/
You have a point...this is merely a sympton of a larger issue.

Hell, the kid might make it big this way...be fucked up, but have the money, which is what seems to count.

don,t you need a license or something before you can inject botox?
also this is stupid kids like that rarely make it into the world of professional modeling!
also botox is a poison (its a muscle relaxant produced by venomous snakes) and I think it,s a TERRIBLE idea to inject it frequently into the face of a 8 year old

Why can't the Escapist community find happier news? Like Japan having next to no looting. Nice stuff.
True that when you consider that during hurricane Katrina people looted house... and look who badmouthed japan when they had a misfortune (refer: those Americans who thought they are being patriotic when they're actually just being a horrible excuse for being human - harsh I know)So yes It is a wonderful thing the Japanese are doing :).

And they did in fact : http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108566-Japanese-Superheroes-Encourage-Kids-to-Keep-Smiling

Anyway, back to topic, sorry if I rambled too far :p ...

If you do take the consideration that her father is 75 and the mom is 24 when she was born... then I suppose it is another messed up family right there.

Honestly, this mother is completely out of her mind. Outside from the physical damage she has done to her daughter, the mental damage could have been worse as well. Say she didnt become a model, she'd probably have a major breakdown and stuff. Even if she does, her ego might be EVEN bigger than the ego most models have there. In fact, huge ego may have been one of the reason people chose to pursue such goal. I've had my share of models and their ego in real life, and I decided to NOT date another egoistic model ever again.

Wow... Thats pretty crazy...

I can't help but feel sorry for the kid losing out on childhood and teenagehood...

About ten years too late, bro. XD

Yeah it disgusts me, and it shouldn't be legal, but I'm hardly surprised that this sorta stuff goes on. We live in a society where a "pretty face" is more valued than a good understanding of English, this sorta stuff has become inevitable.

This is both a fault on the mother's side for idiotic parenting AND a fault on the media's side for influencing this child to want a breast enlargement to feel "normal" and "pretty". Someone really needs to keep the media in check, or at least give them a ration card or something, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO BLOW OUT ON ONE NEWS STORY, NOW WAIT FOR PAUL MCCARTNEY TO DIE AND CLAIM IT WAS AN ASSASSINATION BY RINGO STAR!!! Honestly the media is right behind scientology in my list of things that can go to hell ¬_¬

Yeah. Because breast enlargements on a child is totally normal. And of course it would help with the kid beauty pageants because the first thing they do is look for D cups on a 8 year old...

I love how she thinks that because the botox, which is a poison, is fine to use on her old wrinkled ass, that it will work exactly the same on a still developing child.
Also the waxes... it will stop her ever growing body hair... yeah. Im sure that works. -.-;
Not to mention a childs skin is a lot more delicate than some withered old hag.

By age 25 the kids gonna look like a blank faced, leathery purse.

But until then, yeah. She will be the prettiest teenage hooker on her block...
I agree with you, Botox has the single most deadly poison in the world in it Botulinum.

And to be a 'star' you need to start with some talent at all, not just huge boobs and perfect skin. Instead of forcing poison into he daughter, and trying to prevent parts of puberty, she should develop her daughter's skills and talents so she would at least have a value beyond a surface glance. What I think is even worse is that her mother has brainwashed her daughter into wanting the injections. All 8 year olds want to be super stars, but this will just go wrong when she has the texture of a leathery car seat in the hot sun at age 20.

Botox is bad news, kids:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37861005/ns/health-skin_and_beauty/
(tl;dr - people with botox may actually experience emotions less strongly because they don't get the neural feedback from forming the expressions.)

And I'm not even going to touch the breast enlargements. Figuratively speaking.

This is just wrong on so many levels. I don't even know where to start here...

I mean, not only is she doing these disgusting things to her child, but she has successfully brainwashed the child into believing it's for her own good.

Just wrong. If it's true what the Mother says and 'others' are doing the same thing, there is a serious problem here...

Why am I reminded of Bioshock's Dr. Steinman?

The mother is probably trying to make her child a star for her own sake, not for the child's sake. She likely just wants someone to leech off of if her daughter manages to make it big. (Which she wont.) That's the main reason behind most child beauty pageant entries. Just greedy (usually fat) mothers looking to mooch off of their daughter's earnings. Pageants should really have age restrictions.

This may sound judgmental, but I find the above explanation way more likely than the idea that her mom is doing this for the child's sake. You don't stick your child full of syringes based on a theory that she MAY make it big and live a life of luxury. Not to mention that fame and wealth will not necessarily make you happier [http://www.cracked.com/article_17061_reminder-5-things-you-think-will-make-you-happy-but-wont.html], and she could enjoy her life just as much being part of the working class.

And the worst part of it is, her daughter really trusts her. She trusts her mom with all of her heart, and she doesn't realize she's being used. She'll probably grow up treating her mom's words like profound wisdom, and develop a ridiculous sense of entitlement. This is her reality, and a person's reality is difficult to change.

For thousands of years parents have been abusing their children, I don't see what the surprise is. It's disgusting but "I cannot believe this mother and her daughter" is not how I feel about this at all. I believe it quite easily.

Welcome to Earth.
True, but this is a new one to me. Still gets a little shock value since I hate botox on anyone, let alone children. BURN THE WITCH!!

Botox is botulism toxin. I'm pretty sure it should be illegal to use at all, but on a child... Its nuts.
Yeah, a line needs to be drawn somewhere on this I believe. Crazy's always find a way to abuse new technology and treatment.

Also, you can't have that avatar, only I'm allowed to have awesome taste in music :D

I think we should outlaw child beauty pageants. That would solve a lot of this shit.
Pretty much this, I hate to think what's those pageants are teaching the kids for later life. This case sounds even worse though, bordering on child abuse, and breast implants for an 8 year old? Message for all parent who like to dress up/bodily modify their children to look like adults: your children are beautiful as they are now, let them enjoy their childhood, they'll have many more years in the future as an adult to be a model if they want.

Seriously WTF! I've heard of parents making teenage girls get botox and breat enhancments, that was bad enough, but an 8 year old girl that really does take the biscuit for shear stupidity! And mum thinks this will help her daughter become a famous singer, actress or model, how exactly does being beautiful gurantee any of those things? I mean sure they do help but even the worst actors and singers in the industry do have some small degree of talent, and surely breat implants are big no nos for aspiring models? I can personally only think of two careers that being beautiful is the soul requirement. 1. Glamour Model, where having big tits and being willing to get them out certainly open doors for you, and 2. Porn Star.

What makes this worse is that it is not soley the mother's fault for doing this to her child (still largely to like for actually injecting her daughter with poison), also the medias for promoting this celebrity culture to these people, saying you don't need to be talented or intelligent just be nice to look at and people will make you a star and give you lots of money. Seriously we need stamp out this attitude becuase I gurantee if there is one parent who thinks like this, there are going to be others meaning more children could have their chilhoods and potentially future adult lives ruined by self centred pushy parents. /rant

In all seriousness I hope for the girl's sake that the correct authorities have been informed and are dealing with the situation.

Wait a minute. An EIGHT year old checks in the mirror every night for wrinkles and then throws a fit when she "sees" one and wants another injection? bravo mom, you must be so bloody proud. More women need to do this for their kids. Really? wow, leave this cretin alone with my mother and let her say that to her face. She would absolutley destroy her. Didn't her "scientist" husband tell her about basic human development? An eight year old that wants breast implants is a frightening thing.

Agreed.. why would breasts determine anything with beauty pageants? Seriously it's twisted and awful, for she is only 8 and still developing so when she is older, she's going to have a lot of negative side effects from all of this thanks to her mom.. poor girl,
I really hope things change for the better. This should be illegal by the way, because having an 8 year old injected with botox and breat impants to look 'beautiful' or better for fame purposes is just inhuman period. Thanks for pointing that out, just wanted to express on how I felt too.. Mm.
I'm pretty sure it is illegal. The doctor carrying out the operation should also be prosecuted, he should know better than to allow it.
