Surprisingly, this isn't even close to the "worst" out there. Expression is expression though, and expressions through film like this have been around since film began, and I'd like to think that exploring the medium of film and ourselves as emotional faucets makes us stronger people in the end...but...one can only take so much. I'll be watching this...eventually...just...not soon.

I'm intrigued, and I wanna see it.

Will probably regret it, but I demand that my curiosity be filled!

Wait, what? So they filmed a child rape scene? Really???
I think at this point it's fair to call your attention to two other movies.

the first being... i think it might have been the kite runner? i dunno. it's a movie in the middle east and a group of kids rapes this other kid while his friend hides and watches.

second being The Girl Next Door, in which a girl goes to live with her Aunt, and ends up getting tied up, stripped and left hanging there in front of a group of boys for no real apparent reason. and this is a true story.

point being, child rape is in real life unfortunately, and is going to be depicted in movies. and in our increasingly numbed age, horror movies HAVE to keep stepping it up, so things like this are just the natural progression. a movie depiction of rape isn't disturbing. it's art imitating life.

life is disturbing.
I think there is a difference between showing things like child rape to educate and horrify (like in The Kite Runner), versus showing child rape to entertain and titillate. I'm not planning on seeing ASF but it sounds like the film is somewhere in between these two styles -- it's not trying to expose the realities of child rape and get people to do something about it, but it's not cheerfully presenting it as a jolly good time and expecting its audience to enjoy the scenes either.

So, I dunno. Definitely not going to see it -- watching scenes like that can be literally traumatic for people with my kind of brain -- but I'm not going to say it's automatically immoral either. And honestly I've read worse, albeit not much worse.

This is basically the movie version of 2 Girls 1 Cup and as such is all about sensationalist reactions from what I have read about how people treat it. While I am not a big horror fan I do enjoy the odd horror movie but this however, is barely more than a fake snuff film as to me it has been a bit ruined(I know there are worse things out there). People need to learn that horror movies need to illicit more feel than shock and disgust. What happened to suspense, fear and you know horror?

I really doubt this movie evokes anything other than the urge to vomit or the curiosity of people who are into reactionary stuff. So the long point I am making here is that no I do not like the movie from what I have read and what I have read has completely turned me off the movie. From what I have read there is a genuinely good movie in there mostly over shadowed by the shock factor and going after being disturbing. I know I would probably not find it disturbing knowing it is fake and the plot as I know what happens already but it would ruin the movie for me.

I just watched it. I don't understand its labeling as a 'horror' film, it's not. It's just plain and simple DISTURBING. I'm open minded, I thought song for a raggy boy was brilliant, as I thought boys don't cry was, but this was just sick and i wouldn't recommend anybody to watch it merely for the fact that I couldn't begin to contemplate how anyone would actually enjoy the film

EDIT:
Actually the soundtrack is pretty cool

I saw it a little while ago at a friends place in Cape Breton. They and four others were smashed on rum and I was sober through the entire thing, honestly, the fact that it was a movie kept me firmly grounded while the other 4 freaked out at every scene like the marine reaction clip. Though, the depictions in the film are some of the most graphic I've ever seen, again, it's only a movie, and keep in mind, people thought The Exorcist had a demon in it's original film print.

I saw this movie last night after reading this topic and I must say that this topic makes the movie way worse than what it really is. The majority of the "acts" happen off screen or cut away from. I have a female friend who was so weak that she couldnt finish reading the description of the movie so maybe I'm just desensitized to such things.

Well, because of this thread, I watched the uncut version last night. It's trying too hard, and ends up coming off as a bit of a joke to be honest.

I can imagine a boardroom filled with suits, brainstorming ideas for shocking things. Then they said 'fuck it' and just put them all in.

Badly scripted, badly acted, badly filmed, trying-too-hard bunch of complete and utter toss. And there's far worse out there if you look for it.
