I've actually been looking forward to this game for a while, (since the announcement trailer :S) I kinda like the style they are going for and the fact that there just MAY be a bit more characterization for Dante and Vergil is a big plus for me. I'm a sucker for stories, and let's face it the classic DMC never really had a decent story behind it all, so I wanna see how this turns out.

Since the demo came out though, I'm glad to find that the combat is still as fun as ever, so that pretty much sealed the deal for me.

On a side note: I actually love Vergils hat, the "classy" style he has now makes me giggle. XD

I just hate it because I like Devil May Cry. I don't have a problem with the gameplay or characters, but it's like if they made a Legend of Zelda game without Link. It could be a great Zelda game, but it would feel wrong regardless.

Although, I do miss the lock on function...

What did you guys think?
Pretty much that!.

Once I'd figured out the controls it was brilliant apart from the lack of a manual lock on, and it would be nice to have some kind of legacy control option that let's you use a more old-school control setup.

Me being me I managed to use the wrong grab in combat a few times but it works out fine either way, just got used the Nero's devil arm and how that worked I guess.

But yeah, was great fun, really enjoyable. Frame rate did feel a touch sluggish sadly, playable by all means, but sluggish, hopinh for a good great PC version

How many games in this series now? Five? Six?

You'd think they'd have established by now whether or not that devil is going to cry.
Well in 2 Dante tells Lucia "devils never cry"

But that WAS the most hated one.

Just an aside, anyone else love the atrocious editing in these videos? I'm seriously expecting CRRAWWWLIINNG IN MY SKIINNNN to blare its ugly head in one of these. If they're trying to entice people to play their game, they're not doing a very good job of it.

No ma'am, I do not think so.

Haven't played the demo but I don't like the general aesthetics of the game (from what I've seen). I'll give it a shot to see if the gameplay is up to snuff and check out some cutscenes on youtube to see how the dialogue is eventually. If it is decent enough dialogue wise (hopefully plenty more witty than what I've heard about) and the gameplay is just as good or better than previous installments then I'll pick it up.

Oh and how difficult is it? If it isn't hard I'm not interested.

Having checked out the demo yesterday I'd have to say I'm not really impressed or liking where it's going since I did love the older Cry's this new one seems too different for me in a sense that it doesn't feel like I'm playing Dante anymore but more of a wannabe instead.

Eh in the end I'll probably skip out on this since it's going to go somewhere I'm not going to like so I guess I'll go for another game franchise that hasn't been altered much to appeal to a new and different crowd.

I didn't care for it. the combat itself was fun, but pretty much everything else was average or mediocre. It'll be a budget buy for me. On the plus side, Dante wasn't an insufferable douchebag. Seriously, he straight up pissed me off in DMC3.

Seriously, though, there were WAY too few enemies, way too infrequent in their appearance, the platforming was pretty lame (although I liked being able to chain up to places), and the levels were way too big. Just a nice, tight arena with lots of enemies would have worked just fine.

They should have studied something like Bayonetta and taken more inspiration from it. God I can't wait for Bayonetta 2...

Just as an aside, I didn't finish the demo, I got too bored wandering around looking for stuff to kill.

Bitches love Fedora's.

I'm honestly looking forward to it and I hope it does well... because I like watching Fanboys cry. Fanboys May Cry.

Is Vergil undercover at a gay bar?
Undercover?

He runs such a fine establishment, while awesome non-reboot Vergil is taking names and kicking ass.
Vergil kicks names and takes ass. If you gave him your name he'd probably beat your ass with it. All the girls want some Vergil goodness. ;p

I can't say I'm very interested in the new DmC. I just...meh. To the whole thing. I dislike Dante's redesign, I dislike Vergil's redesign and it irks the hell out of me that they're trying to use existing lore for their reboot. If they're going to try to use the existing canon to call this reboot a prequel, as least be consistent with the freaking canon.

I'm looking at you, stupid ass comment about how this is before Dante had white hair.

I think it may be a decent game in its own right, but I still maintain that(just like Dragon Age 2) I would like it more if it wasn't called Devil May Cry, but that's just me.

DmCs "humor" doesn't quite fit my tastes. Dante always shittalked his enemies, but there is a whole difference between Dantes humor and new Dantes obscenities. The combo and style sytem also seem extremly simplified, there is something wrong if you can get SSS rank by repeating the routine of counter+same attack. Some people even managed to achieve SSS with just about 3-4 attacks against a single pair of enemies.

Oh gosh, a game that was called out on being shit without any actual basis except the hair (understatement from my side but fuck it, this was really all I remember about the whole situation) turns out to be not shit...

The whole problem was that people whined without having a reason to. No gameplay footage, only a small clip of 'banter' etc were enough to declare the new DMC shit before even playing it. Oh, and hair. Because a normal haircut seems to be emo nowadays.
While his new look was one reason why people displike him, it's definitely the least valid and unfair to mock critics by only citing that one argument.

Oh look, Daystar actually did start this topic.

Sorry, don't really have any input other than that. I only played DMC 1 and didn't really enjoy it when I did. Glad the newest one is looking shipshape for you, though.

I thought a heavy dose of parody was par for course in DmC. Even in IV, when we weren't watching Nero scream his cardboard girlfriends name at the sky we had scenes like this:

If the new game keeps true to that spirit and doesn't take itself to seriously I can see how it might be enjoyable. I just hope it's released on PC so I can give it a go.

To be perfectly honest, I don't play Capcom games for the story anyway. They're usually insane or downright stupid, while the gameplay is ranging from decent to facking oresome. I've been looking forward to this since it was announced, and the fact that most of the people I know are saying the actual game itself is fun to play just reinforces my resolve.
As far as I could tell, the basic concept of the rebooted DMC is based on the story of Little Nicky.
