Bought Fallout: New Vegas today, and it doesn't work. Now, I'm not talking about the bugs that people are supposed to have been experiencing. I mean it doesn't go past the launcher. I'm getting this endless auto-configuration loop, and I'm just shaking my head in resignation. I spent 50 bucks on this game, and it's throwing a hissy fit at my computer's hardware (Which is a high-spec machine, so this shouldn't be happening).

Anyone else having this problem?

That sounds like something you need to bring to their official forums. I didn't experience anything like that.

Yeah, their reply is basically "Huh, I dunno. Buy a console, retard."

Only problem I had was with my "Classic Pack" DLC - they screwed up on the PSN for Canadians. They posted an English and French version. I kept downloading and installing the English version - turns out they mislabeled them and should have been US and CAD - because I was downloading the US one it wouldn't load - as soon as I tried the French one it worked. Luckily as soon as I loaded my save files it gave me all of the bonus items!

Other than that - no glitches!

Did you get it installed properly at least? If so, you may just have to hold out for the second round of patches. If not, sorry buddy, but you've wasted $50. It sucks, I know, but as fun as this game might be, it's got bugs crawling out of every orifice...

this is why you dont ever buy games from bethesda or games that run on their current engine on release since its full of bugs that are generally game breaking. just wait a few weeks and either the company will release a patch to fix it or some modder will have made one if they have released the SDK

It's got nothing to do with bugs, as I said in the OP. It's software that comes with the game that's causing the problem.

Had the same problem with Fallout 3, and no mods have been released that remove the auto-config. And that game's been out two years.

i'm having a similar issue, but i can at least get past the auto configuration tool, i load up the game, and get to the copyright disclaimer slide, then it crashes out.

my hardware is as follows
Asus p5k motherboard
Intel Quadcore 2.8GHz
Nvidia GeForce 8800GT - dual monitors

i've tried disabling the second monitor through windows, and a whole raft of other stuff, but i can't seem to get this damn game to run.

if it helps, i found This. it wasn't any use to me, but you should think about it
