I can't get back into games

Lately I've been craving to play games, but when I do play them I get bored pretty quick. Assassin's Creed II, Mordern Warfare 2, Saints Row 2, Persona 3... I even tried replaying my favourite game ever, Final Fantasy IX, but it's just not happening. Should I be glad that I've lost this nerdish impulse to venture forth in a videogame world, and simply go back to reading all the books I've never finished? Or am I just not playing the right games?

Is there anyone else who posts here that doesn't play games very much?

Maybe you should try something new instead of games you already own. A fresh video game always works for me and may do the same to you.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with doing things outside of video games. Don't think it is a bad thing that you grew away from it.

don't really play games much at all, when i do i play then obsessively; 14 hour shifts on mass effect, fallout 3 etc. But for most of the year I'm a game free zone

Playing games can go in phases for me so maybe you just need a break for awhile and then you can return to games when you feel like it. Its no big deal. It can be liberating because then you can accomplish other things.

Maybe you should try some older games, see if you can find some hidden gems. Or perhaps you need to find another type of gaming to get behind.

I have hard time getting into a game like when i started to play borderlands i was so bored I eventually started to like it but it didn't really do it for me i just haven't been able to get as much into gaming anymore. I think my personal life and its frustrations are taking a toll on my gaming... i wonder if anybody else has ever had that problem.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! A fellow Gamer has Fallen! You must be Revived with Enormous Amounts of RPGs!
*Slap myself in the Head* Anyway, just find a hobby to get your mind of the Gaming issue. Also, i really don't see a "Real" RPG in your List....

well, the first three games I mentioned are new, and I actually really enjoy AC2, but I feel no need to keep with it. I keep craving something else, but can't tell what it is. maybe I'll just try and get laid tonight and see how I feel then...

Perhaps try some oldies? Whenever I'm in a gaming slump I dust off my trusty N64 and play some OoT. Nothing quite brings back memories of days when gaming was the greatest thing in the world to me like some good old fashioned Zelda.

Reading is always great but don't sacrifice your inner gamer. You could always try Half Life 2 to get back into games. It worked for me when I hadn't gamed for about a year in the past.

I say "Real" not because i prefer Some RPG's to Others, i say "Real" because some of the Games you said youplayed have RPG elements but is not a "True" RPG, that is all i am saying.
Also i have no Prejudice against JRPGs if that's what you're insinuating.

Why would you be concerned either way? If you want to play video games, play them, and if you don't feel like it, then don't. Sometimes you need breaks from your hobbies in order to keep enjoying them. Sometimes those breaks are indefinite. So what? They'll always be there for you to return to.

oh, I've tried that as well. I brought my Game Cube to university purposely to play OoT - I really, really thought I wanted to play it - but after a single dungeon I couldn't go on.

I was the same until Mass Effect 2 came out. I had barely touched any of my games for about a month and then Mass Effect 2 came out and i havent been off it since. It even made me go back and play my other games

this might incur some wrath here, but try some wii games, the motion-controls can be just different enough to keep you interested. No More Heroes did it for me.

well, it's not a concern. it's just the confusion of actually wanting to play games and getting bored of everything I try straight away. it's almost tempting to get rid of my consoles so I can stop wasting my own time.

It sounds like you're trying to force yourself back into enjoying them. This happened to me a while back, just move onto something else you enjoy for a while, you'll come back to gaming when you're ready.

I lack an Xbox. Dragon Age Origins interests me, though. It's something I've been thinking of getting for a while now, although I'd have to risk paying for it, hoping that it holds my interest.
