Shameful as it is to admit, the Speedycat remix of Caramelldansen. I usually listen to Pendulum, Frontline Assembly and similar. Such candy-techno usually burns my ears, but this.. I dunno, it has something.

Pardon the anime.

One of my friends, who has very different musical tastes than me, once made me watch the music video for Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" in its entirety. The song was stuck in my head for weeks, and I concluded that people only like her music because it gets stuck in their head and they decide that they have to like it in order to not go insane.

No, because I don't pay any attention to what I'm "supposed" to like. I like whatever I want. Those type of rules are usually just made up by a bunch of music snobs who think their taste is better when it isn't.
This may seem a bit sudden and inappropriate but
I think I love you.

I currently have the Mickey Mouse Club theme song stuck in my head. Damn Full Metal Jacket.
I don't see the problem, pilgrim...

Back on topic, I've had the Professor Brother's "Prisoner Christmas" song stuck in my head for the past 2 weeks... I keep humming it to myself and I hate myself for it.

I don't really watch anime, I just like that one song. I have a friend who's fiercely into anime and its music. I'm having him hook me up soon to see if I can actually get into it.

I've got "Pukka, Pukka, Pukka Squeetily Boink" stuck in my head. But since I can't find a video of it, here's a nostolgic sound followed by nightmare fuel.

The song itself is amazing but I personally thought the show kinda sucked..there are better shows with really good songs too..

As ashamed as I am to admit it, I got Taylor Swift's "Love Story" stuck in my head. My friend listens to that song almost non-stop and then the radio plays it and people humming it, and on the T.V. , ect. So, after a while, I was sitting in the car going down the road with some headphones in and reading a horror novel when my grandma asks what I am humming and I found myself humming it.

The song's kind of stupid. Like I can see why some people would get it stuck in their heads though.

While at work the other day a song came onto the speakers that actually made me stop in my tracks. It had what I can only describe as a " blazing funky rhythm." As fond as i am of the song..it is with a slightly covered face that i reveal the song to be "We R who We R" by Ke$ha. Since I have not only been playing this song on repeat and have been caught dancing and singing to said song, I felt compelled to ask my fellow escapist:

Ever have a song that "you're not supposed to like" get stuck in your head? And i mean STUCK..like you sing it while your making a sandwich stuck..
(if you never had the pleasure of hearing the mentioned song then do please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXvmSaE0JXA and get rocked out your socks)
What you are experiencing is a meme in it's truest form. Incidently there have been attempts made by psychological warfare divisions to weaponize things like this. The idea being that if sounds/music can be created intentionally that stimulate the brain and it's memory centers in a way to get stuck there it can be exploited. Combine it with some hypnosis and boom, your in business. Just imagine a song that artificially takes up like 80% of someone's cognitive process and is so addictive that they literally can't get it out of their mind. They wind up there being hypnotized going through those lyrics in their head, unable to do anything else until they literally get massacred or starve to death. Similar to a "Tasp" in Larry Niven's novels on some levels, though working on a differant principle. A few science fiction authors have directly explored the idea of weaponized memes, though to my knowlege it has yet to actually be done successfully in real life... but still, just imagine cultural genocide through pop music, or an internet audio/visual transmission....

At any rate on the "real" level this happens with some frequency. Some big offenders in the past have been Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achey Breaky Heart" (ever wonder why he's famous?) and the song "Don't Worry Be Happy" (can't remember who did it off the top of my head). Songs that objectively aren't all that good, yet people literally can't get out of their mind. Performers generally stumble upon these by accident.

Back when it used to be cool, during one of Adam Warren's runs on "Gen 13" dealt with the concept (as a joke) of a pop-music based meme-song being so power that it obtained sentience and forced humanity into a hive mind so it could use our collective intelligence to try and solve some equasions it was having problems with (it generally was not malevolent and more or less departed on it's own, the idea intended to be funny, and it actually amused me greatly).

The point being, your far from being alone here. Everyone has had this happen to them, and as a result it's inspired a lot of thought, both in terms of realistic exploitation, and fantasy.
