I could be talking to the entirely wrong group of people about this, but here we go anyways

just gotta give some tough love, and show him other options (such as climbing trees, playing at playground, throwing/kicking the ball around, playing with animals, playing with legos/action figures/etc...)

give him tough love now, his tantrums won't work, and he'll understand at an earlier age how to be mature.

Upon reflecting on this, I think this has started because it is dark at 5 pm and we don't let him go to the park because it is dark. Not to mention someone was killed walked down this street a month ago.

Anyhow I think right now he is only playing video games because he doesn't have anything else to do...unless you count the room full of toys and he books he never reads. I have no problem with him playing games. More of him playing games before homework and chores being done.

And again this could be a personal hang up, but I have a problem with video games before school. Mostly because then he doesn't have time to eat breakfast and throws a fit because "he hasn't eaten." I have no problem with him watching sponge bob before school because he can shovel down cereal while watching.
