Are you:Instinct Blues said:First of all I'm a white person and I'm not saying white people in this topic or anywhere in this world right now contributed to the slave trade, or dividing up Africa. What I'm saying is that race is still an issue and people(mostly white people) don't seem to understand it because of their white privilege. I'm just trying to point out that it middle/ lower class whites that perpetuate the problem without even knowing it sometimes because they like being able to point at someone to say they are better than them when in actuality they should be brothers of the same cause. But apparently thats too difficult for everyone here to grasp.
Dude, you're missing my point, I don't feel guilty at all. Not even slightly. I'm a white Australian, I've known three black people and been friends with all of them. I feel no guilt nor do I have any reason to feel guilt for the situation other people find themselves in. That's the point I'm making.Instinct Blues said:I'm not saying that at all, but you have to realize as a white person you have the privilege to forget. By forgetting you free yourself from all guilt and pain you could feel from even hearing these stories that people lived through. I'm not saying he should be looked down upon but you shouldn't just casually toss the problems of minorities aside and say "It isn't my fault they can help themselves herp-derp" I think I should point out that I'm a white person and I'm grown up enough to admit that I have a privilege and I'm rejecting it. I don't want to forget or cast aside minority problems as just minority problems.ChadSexington said:God damn you are dumb. So you're saying that for being born white he should be looked down upon for something he didn't do?
Or it could be because you tried to tell everyone your opinion in the most ham-fisted, unsubtle, asinine, condescending, and downright insulting way possible. People don't react well to being called "ignorant" or "racist", I find. Or being told "you won't listen because you're too privileged". Or that your opinions are "too difficult for everyone here to grasp". You really need to work on your approach to these types of things. :/Instinct Blues said:First of all I'm a white person and I'm not saying white people in this topic or anywhere in this world right now contributed to the slave trade, or dividing up Africa. Because it isn't my damn fault. I'm a half british half lebanese lower-middle class 15 year old who's family came to Canada 9 years ago after having lived in South Korea and then Lebanon. I fail to see how it's any of my problem what fictional wanna-be gangsters, who don't even live in the same country as I do, do with their lives, when neither I nor anyone in my family has ever been in a position so at to be capable of affecting the lives of people like him. I don't have the privilege to forget because I don't have anything to forget. And even if my great grandfather had been some southern slave driver, then I still wouldn't give a shit, because I had nothing to do with that. You need to stop thinking that white people should feel guilty simply because people who share their skin color used to do bad things. There are white rapists too, do all white people have to go apologize to those rapists' victims? Fuck no, that's stupid. And most of all, you need to stop thinking that bullshit like this song is in anyway representative of any community, because that's just offensive.Instinct Blues said:I'm not saying he should be looked down upon but you shouldn't just casually toss the problems of minorities aside and say "It isn't my fault they can help themselves herp-derp"ChadSexington said:God damn you are dumb. Yeah, pretty much this.Risingblade said:Not sad, more like disgusted
lol Immortal! \,,/.technoted said:This is a sad song how? I'm more likely to cry over a Cannibal Corpse song. Am I supposed to feel sorry for a guy who raped his own mother?
The only Immortal that brings tears to my eyes is Immortal. And it's wonderous tears of joy.
DeanoTheGod said:The best counter-argument is the fact that while every single culture in world history has had slavery in one form or another, it was the British and the British alone who ever mounted an actual anti-slavery movement.Instinct Blues said:The ammount of times I have been blamed for the slave trade, or dividing the middle east and Africa, just because I am white British. .
They forced it on the entire world, too, just like they forced the other aspects of their culture. It's thanks to them that slavery isn't commonplace anymore.
So yeah, it's British Imperialism that ended slavery. A deliciously ironic fact.
He's not being racist you twat. He didn't like the music due to its lack of content and poor execution.Instinct Blues said:Did you even bother listening to the whole song? I don't think you did and if you did you didn't really listen to it. Its not just "Homie grew up in the ghettos. Shit's sad, yo" and if you think so you are just an ignorant person as well as being racist.Gasaraki said:Not a single tear, bro. It takes more than 'Homie grew up in the ghettos. Shit's sad, yo' to make me feel something.
I would like to know this as well.Angry Camel said:No tears for this. What do we get for beating your dare?
I didn't say you said those things, I said I have been accused of that before. Usually to my face, not on the internet. I think your arguements may be valid in one or 2 small pocets of community, but you appear to vbe masked by that. You have multiplied your small experience so that it becomes your view of the world. There are bigger issues out there fella, watch the world news sometime, go experience the world. (You don't need money for this, I know people who have travelled Europe and Africa just be hitching lifts and doing odd jobs for people in exchange for food. Anyone can do it.)Instinct Blues said:First of all I'm a white person and I'm not saying white people in this topic or anywhere in this world right now contributed to the slave trade, or dividing up Africa.
