Holy shit... I had heard about this, but this was my first time reading it.

Gah! It makes it so much worse that my head read it with the voices of the ponies!

Who watches a cartoon about cute ponies and friendship and arrives at the conclusion, "wouldn't it be awesome to write a story about one of the ponies cutting up her friends and making cupcakes out of them"?

To quote Shawn Spencer; "WHO DOES THAT ?!?!?!?"

I will admit I found it funny the first time I read it, In a morbid, black humor kind of way. Now my only thoughts are of how easily forgettable it is.

I refuse to read it because I like Pinkie Pie. As if that wasn't evident by my avatar.

I found it disgustingly entertaining. Pinkie Pie now reminds me of Clover from the Axe ending in "Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors," and the raw, grisly details were written to such great effect that the depiction never missed a beat! Moreover, it made me laugh consistently throughout, and that's always a plus for me when talking of fanficiton.

Overall, sickeningly good stuff!

Well. It brings me no pleasure to say that even though the story is probably the sickest thing i have read all god damn year, i still love it. it keeps you at toes at all time. The shock value is amazing and its ending is balls, brain, back and crack breakinglly great. The story is portrayed in a way that gives the audience a direct view to the story. it story is great but i think we should have a doctor to look at the writer, and then lock him up in a mental institution forever.

Ah yes, I remember when I first read Cupcakes. I actually cried halfway through. Crying at the realization that someone had actually wrote it. They ACTUALLY wrote a story about a pony being tortured and mutilated by her friend. Then turned into party snacks.
It wasn't the horror that got to me. It's the fact that this story exists.
And yeah, I'm never reading it again.

I think it might have been the first MLP-related thing I read. Thank you very much, tvtropes.

Then, I suppose that's actually good, because the horror was nerfed somewhat and Pinkie Pie wasn't actually ruined for me, I got subsequent cupcakes references that I saw, and I didn't end up reading it after having watched several episodes and getting attached to the characters.

Then, of course, I immediately read all the alternate endings, which again nerfed the horror. The first of those, where it's all just a horrible dream and Pinkie Pie heads over to Rainbow Dash's house immediately, is adorable and is probably the point when I became a brony. Then, via tvtropes again, I found the My Little Portal fanfic because Glados makes a Cupcakes reference there, and so I read that, and at some point afterwards I watched the first episode, and the rest is about eight months of all the ponies, all the time.

So yeah, somehow this, of all possible fanfics, is what made me a brony. In conjunction with tvtropes.

Ok, I knew your mind was perverted, but this? Cupcakes of all things made you a brony? It's like saying Squad Broken made you a 40k fan. Don't look it up. EVER.

The phrase "squad broken" brings my mind to a /tg thread. The question arose of how space marines climb stairs, and a few posts in the thread became a series of pictures of staircases with captions relating to morale breakdown.

I've read and i don't get it either. I mean, i know what it's going for. "It's about a cute, funny cartoon but it's violent, so it's, like, totally subversive!" but it doesn't really succeed in anything. It's not emotional enough to be dramatic, not well written enough to be shocking and not nearly original enough to be interesting in any way.

Count yourself lucky in that case.

I doubt anyone will be back here anytime soon, but here goes. I first tried asking people for a reason why cupcakes and the like were created. Unfortunatly no straight answer came and I got angry due to some responses. Then I just decided to ask for help on how to get over this stuff after learning that music artists I liked lowered themselves by putting the cupcakes song on their channels. I don't know why people like and support it since all it does for me is damage the characters Pinkie Pie & Rainbow Dash. I know it's fiction but that doesn't matter to me, the soiling of this nearly perfect show is hurting me. I want to get over this & almost just as much I want to know why people like it. Please help if you can.
