I didn't like Half-life 2

Truthfully, i didnt get it (the orange box) until the begining of 2009, but i still dont think it was too great a game. A lack of multiplayer wasnt much of n issue (team fortress 2 was there), but the game didnt really seem good until the antlion nests and enhanced gravity gun. The graphics and story are great, but those are irrelivent. Truthfully, i thought it was n average shooter.

Does anyone else have this opinion?

Before anyone asks, i thought portal was good but nway too short.

It is an average shooter. Like everyone will tell you, it's the story and the graphics that were far beyond their time that everyone likes.

Don't worry, I didn't like them that much either.

I thought the story was amazing, and the gameplay was quite good. Some parts were tedious, and playing for too long gave me a stomach ache (not a clue about that one), but it was still a great game (series).

I thought it was a great game. The only reason I stopped playing it was because of those "LOADING" parts every 5 minutes that lasted for like half an hour... It's like I'd just start getting into the flow of things and then "LOADING" comes out of nowhere and it's just like "ugh, fuck this". The actual game play is excellent though.

I haven't played 2 yet, but currently playing the original. I'm liking it so far, but I'd prefer it if it went with more of a level structure. Still, really good game.

Story is to add to the atmosphere, as do graphics. for single playing ppl, it matters a lot, but it almost is never as important as gameplay.

Yeah, I thought the Half Life 2 games were fun and all, but they weren't the groundbreaking supergames that everyone thouht they were,then again maybe I just got into it a little too late, who knows. On that note it did demonstrate to me that shooters DO in fact work better on the PC than on the consoles considering I played the 360 version of orange box first and thought it was ass. Except for Portal, which somehow managed to retain it's charm on all incarnations, of course I didn't actually find it that funny, I just enjoyed the gameplay.

I have to agree. If you think story, the most important aspect of the game, is unimportant than the game will seem bad to you. Gameplay wise the game is only average and the graphics are pretty old by now.

This is what happens when you fail to keep the bandwagon rolling. People notice it's not actually that good. The story may be good but the game was beyond average. Even then the story is now getting to Metal Gear standards. Complex and confusing. Lets just hope someone makes a time machine and recovers episode three from the future.

I can't speak much for the game (I stopped playing shortly after I was given my handy-dandy crowbar), but I will say that I wish I had the same voice as the ominous G-man at the beginning of the game. Wake up fellow posters. Wake up and smell the ashes.
