Truthfully, i didnt get it (the orange box) until the begining of 2009, but i still dont think it was too great a game. A lack of multiplayer wasnt much of n issue (team fortress 2 was there), but the game didnt really seem good until the antlion nests and enhanced gravity gun. The graphics and story are great, but those are irrelivent. Truthfully, i thought it was n average shooter.
Does anyone else have this opinion?
Before anyone asks, i thought portal was good but nway too short.
Obviously, characterization, voice acting, strong AI, innovation, atmosphere, level design, sound design and set pieces bear little weight in your appreciation of games.

its whats under its hood. physics. first of its kind, common place now. its like looking at the wright brothers' plane and saying "whats so special?" or looking at the world's first nuke and asking why its so important.
I havent played fps much until may of 2007, so i dont no much about advanced physics in the game (or lack thereof in others), but other than that, i dont really c 2 much of other games ripping it off
where do you think rag doll physics came from? they dont rip off HL2 because its all WWII games now.
Er... rag dolls aren't from HL2. I quite remember rag doll physics in the very first Hitman.
