What mockery IS this!? Half-Life 2 is an amazing game! The characters are al brought to life with stunning dialogue, the weapons are fun (who doesn't like laser-guided missiles and exploding crossbows?), and the atmosphere is second to none ("Pick up that can."). The AI was incredibly advanced for its time, and still rivals that of the current generation. The graphics go above and beyond that of traditional Xbox games, yes, it has some flaws, but they still look great overall. Some of the puzzles were ingenious as well, causing you to interact with the worlds around you, much like the gravity gun does. It makes you think, compared to the normal "run and gun" or "shoot anything that moves". And the fact that it didn't have multiplayer is just fine! BioShock has no multiplayer because just like Half-Life 2, it wanted to focus on the story! I was not a big fan of the first Half-Life, there's your typical shooter, but Half-Life 2 is a great one. Then again, I'm more of an atmospheric person, not a FPS guru, so my view on the game is a bit different than yours, I imagine.
Despite the massive number of reasons why HL2 is a fantastic game...yes, I will say that the case for HL2 being fantastic is incredibly strong, in a timeless way, not just when it came out...entertainment is subjective. We like to think that there is 1 standard for good that we can apply universally to all people. We can't. Someone out there doesn't like the Mona Lisa, someone finds Hamlet to be uncreative and banal, someone thought that Schindler's List was trite, and someone thought that Casablanca was dumb. Having a minority opinion makes you neither an ignorant noob, nor one of the elite connoisseurs who transcend the popular opinion. It means that everyone is an outlier along a bell curve somewhere, and that's yours. I don't like bananas, and I will go so far as to say I'm a downright weirdo for that. But hey, thats how taste works, whether its food, entertainment or whatever. As a big fan of Half Life, thanks for trying it out, I hope that even if you don't like it, you can see the appeal, and if not, well enjoy the games you like to play.

if so,then why bother.if not and you infact expected for people to reinforce your belief,why would you need that unless you have doubts.if you have doubts about your opinion,then why not ask if there is something your missing rather than just state you don't like it?

How is story irreleavent, thats the WHOLE POINT OF THE GAME, if you want a shoot em up there are thousands out there like CoD, Halo, Killzone, thousands man. If you didnt want a story then why buy the Orange Box, although Team Fortress 2 is worth 20 bucks anyway.
yeah and the first video gameplay will be in 2040, the game will probably be realesed within the next milenia(speling?) but by then no one will care.mspencer82 said:

OT, if you're going to disregard the story of Half-Life 2, you're disregarding its forte. I also suspect that you didn't meet your quota of zombies chopped in half by 200 mph saw blades a la the gravity gun.
Is it perhaps the mix of shooting and survival you don't like? The two parts you claim to like are where you're a powerhouse (first case, driving a car with an infinite ammo gun attached, the second being where you can paint over an enemy with the secondary fire to kill it.
lol actually yes, i liked the overpowered grav gun bc it was fun bin invincible. but the bug part i like bc im somewhat immature n still like bugs/monsters more than bland humans.Bob_F_It said:
