As far as Gunbelts go, why not check out some costume supply places. Around Halloween down here there are tons of specialty shops that just open/rent space for the holidays. After Halloween a lot of their inventory winds up being sent to wholesalers and discount stores for quick liquidation. I mean honestly, people dress up as cowbows/girls all the time and that's a pretty standard item for a costume.
As far as Obama goes, I don't like his politics, but I'm not going to overeact yet. We knew a lot of this was coming if he got elected, so it's not like it's a surprise. The big questions are whether or not he's going to annoy enough people to lose a second term AND if anyone else elected will care enough to try and repair the damage. I think one of the problems is that the pro-gun politicians seem to spend most of their time defending the existing rights as opposed to going on the offensive to remove limitations after the fact and/or outright extend what's allowed.
But whatever, like it or not, the nation is divided on the issue of gun control, and the anti-gun cantidate won this round, so we've started digging our own national grave that little bit deeper.
Obama might not be someone I agree with, but he's not really deceptive, or at least not on the issue of Gun Control. His attitudes/policies are right along the lines of what we should have expected from this President and a liberal dominated house of representitives.

BACK ON TOPIC, the reason Michaels and Wal-Mart were mentioned is that they HAVE LEATHER SUPPLIES. Not because they have gun holsters. If you have access to a good sewing machine, it'll handle thin leather, otherwise you need an awl. I'm kind of an arts-&-crafts type myself, I helped a younger brother with Star Wars Mandalorian armor and made a d-20 with a welder.

On topic, have you thought of getting an airsoft gun? some of the cheaper ones can look pretty realistic if you don't look hard, and in reality I highly doubt you were looking for an exact replica of Mal's gun.

What's so bad about police states anyways? You're only screwed if you're gonna go around commiting crimes in the first place anyways, so... "Freedom" is seriously overrated, I'll take safety over it any day.
