I like PC for DLC, modding and stronger community. From a gameplay standpoint it really doesn't matter. Both console gaming and PC gaming are vastly different experiences and I enjoy both on different levels. Comparing the differences of playing games on PC and console is like comparing apples and oranges.

This is not to say I exclusively game on the PC, but it is my preferred platform.

My reasons:
--I personally like the mouse and keyboard better as controllers (for most genres -- obviously when it comes to platformers or racing games I'm gonna pick a controller though, but for what I play most of the time I prefer the mouse and keyboard) Also, I can attach a 360 controller to my PC so this isn't really an issue.
--Better graphics (like high resolution - PC gamers have had "HD" for well over a decade now)
--Modding tools
--Genres like RTS's that are almost completely absent on consoles(love me some Total War)

And finally
-- I'm gonna own a PC/laptop anyway. Why not put in a couple hundred bucks more for a machine that can run games?

I mean, hey, PC's aren't becoming more like consoles, consoles are becoming more multipurpose like PC's. (Hard drives, internet browsing, patches, etc.) Eventually you'll barely be able to tell the difference. Besides, I'd like to see you watch your blu-rays in bed. Kinda hard to get that bulkey HD bigscreen balanced on your lap at night.

If you have a decent ones, the games tend to look better, they get patches, they get mods, the get bugfixes, you can fix your own bugs if they happen...Trust in your friends, the PC is better...and I mean PC, not Mac.

I acknowledge would play PC if I could afford to maintain a cutting-edge machine. As it stands, console gaming is simply more convenient and economical.
If you can buy games then you can probably afford to maintain at least a decent machine.

I bought this GPU for 50 USD and I run pretty much everything maxed out.

to grossly simplify:

consoles allow for more fluid control of a game

PCs allow for more control of the game, period.

if you have the patience, gaming on a PC allows you to customize your experience in ways consoles just dont allow; more graphical control, console commands, ini files, mods, and straight up just more buttons to do stuff with. sometimes you wanna just sit down on the couch and play a game e.i. what consoles go for, but for me and others investing our time and effort into personalizing a gaming experience is often far more rewarding.

Only advantage I see consoles having is easier\more fun to play racing, fighting and sport games...all of which I hate anyway.

PC can do pretty much EVERYTHING better. I love my PC :3

Like I said in my other post -- I can attach a 360 controller to my PC at anytime so that's not really an argument in the consoles favor.

the biggest reason I am more of a PC gamer now than I was before have been due to:

A.) Steam, one of the best services on the planet, when you can get things like both Bioshocks for $10, or both Crysis and Crysis warhead for $15, one is defiantly getting their money's worth.

B.) platform freedom, now I say this because one can get most console games on a PC, but if one still has past gen games, like Wind Waker for me, you can play it on an emulator with higher fidelity (after copying your own disk of course, I have no sympathy towards pirates).

C.) server control, this one is I place just because of Minecraft, after setting up my own server, I have been able to play by my own rules. Plus it was a great experience putting the server together.

I do still play my PS3, but that is only because the PC doesn't have stuff like Metal Gear and Demon's Souls.

Pretty much. The console is just a specialized PC. I can emulate any console on my PC if I really want to. Just look at the bit torrent sites (not that I'm a pirate... ) they have lots of xbox and ps3 version games. The PC IS capable of playing them. Consoles have 0 superiority technically over PC except in ease of use. Put disc in, play. After that, advantages end. There's really no other way around that fact. I'm not being a snob, it's just truth.

Catherine and The Last Guardian are coming out for the PS3, but Minecraft and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are on the PC. If the platform in question features games I care to play, then I'm partial to it.

Edit: The 360, used to have one, and it Red Ringed, so I sold the scrap and the games and bought a Wii instead.
Exactly same thing happened to me.

Xbox is the best console or gaming device on the market. I used to play Combat Evolved on my PC. then I got a 360. The thing is, PC gaming is only good for RTS, Sims, and RPS, and the gaming consoles are slowly absorbing them (Warhammer Battle March, Halo wars, End war etc.) Computers are for porn, Facebook, and stupid kitten videos.
First off, what's an RPS? And when have you ever heard of anyone saying how good Battle March and Halo Wars is? A console is vastly inferior for RTSes and requires aim assist for FPS games. But yeah, compare Battle March and Halo Wars to say Starcraft which is what? The most played RTS ever? And how is a PC ONLY good for RTS, Sims, and whatever an RPS is? If it was do you think people would be playing other genres on PC? According to Steam there were over 60k players on Counter-Strike.

The only genres that consoles can do better then PC would probably be action games like DMC and maybe racing games. But if you find a 360 controller better for those, guess what? You can plug it right in! You wanna play Starcraft on your new TV? Plug it in! Over 3 million people who got on Steam today would disagree with you about PCs not being for gaming. And guess what? There are a ton of people who don't even use Steam.

A PC is capable of doing everything a console can do and more. I've heard this argument before actually and it just sounds even more stupid on text. And I don't even use Facebook or look at stupid kitten videos.

I guess PCs are 'better' if you want to do modding and stuff.

I play on my PS3 because:

a) I don't have to worry about 'requirements' and the graphics are just dandy on the PS3, actually.
b) I just want to play games. And nice games come out for the PS3. Hence, I'm happy with my PS3

At the end of the day, everyone's opinion is their own - I can see the advantages offered by a PC, but I'm happy with my PS3. I can juuuust about get Civ 5 to run on low settings on my PC, but I have neither the time, the money nor the inclination to upgrade it, because there aren't enough games that are PC exclusive that I want to play for me to bother. But again - those are just my preferences. I begrudge no-one the right to mod the hell out of Baldur's gate and kit out their PC with the latest liquid helium coole dprocessor or whatever.

I think everyone should just enjoy playing their games on whichever platform works for them, and stop dissing other people for doing something different. It makes me want to puke when I see the 'gamer geek' type whining on forums about how they hate school cos people are all down on them for being who they are, and then they go and do exactly the same thing by spewing PC elitist/console fanboy hatred all over whoever likes the opposite platform.
