Yeah, it is streaming... data goes straight to your RAM without making any stops on storage. Only reason LBP levels don't buffer is because the streamed data is small enough to make it unnecessary.
Ok then thanks for explaining it to me

PC games are cheaper in the UK, not sure if anyone has already said that. The price difference can range from £5-£15 cheaper. I do love the fact that the Witcher 2 is only £25 and if they ever release a console version it will probably be £40.

Better aiming for FPS and RTSes, mods for games, smoother controls, you don't need to buy a new one, only upgrade every so often, like once a year if you know what you're doing so you never need to buy a brand new computer, plus they get cheaper games. Or at least they do in Britain, PC games in my area retail for about £30 new.

Downsides are you have to worry about system requirements, DRM and the thing possibly dying for no reason. But these are just an avid PC watchers observations of hanging out with a PC gamer for 7 years or so.
I agree i pay about £30 for PC games where my mates can pay like £45+ for the same games, and i don't upgrade my pc every year, i do it every 3-4 but as i build mine, it is much cheaper and easier then buying a pre-made one.

DRM is really bad sometimes, as it always needs to get on the internet, i bought Dragon age 2, and i had just moved house i wasn't going to have the internet for like 3 more days, so i tried to install it and play and it just couldn't until it was allowed to get on the internet, that annoyed the hell out of me.

Plus there are less 15 year olds shouting down my speakers or headphones at me, which is definately a good thing.

I prefer playign on my pc becuase it feels more comfortable and I can also talk to my friends through Skype. I have an xbox for console exclusives and I might get a PS3 when they are a bit cheaper.

I like tabbing out and checking out the net too. :)

I used to be a PC gamer, but I'm severely impatient and I just like the fact that it doesn't take as long to start up a console (and turn it off) then it does with a PC. That's really the only thing I like about console gaming more than PC gaming, Call me lazy or ignorant (I'll agree to both), but it's my personal preference and I find it more relaxing when there's no need to shut down a console; you just turn it on, play a little and then turn it off when you're done.

Plus, they're cheaper, so, if a console breaks, it doesn't put too much of a dent in your wallet to replace it.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm just outlining my reasons for liking the console over the PC. I can deal with the inferior graphics, lower frame rates and limited memory space that plague the console market, so I'm pretty happy with what I've got.

Why? Why do you look down on me? because you know the definition of download? Wow big man you must be so much better than me having a powerful gaming machine, what I meant was its not downloading in the traditional sense, like you download the file frm a website and put it on your ps3 or download from the psn, it doesn't tell you that its downloading, and I do know what I'm talking about, you're the one who has most likely never even played LBP and is just guessing at what happens, and the worst part is you're acting all high and mighty while performing guess work, people in glass houses mate

Because you decided to make a statement about something you clearly don't know enough about, and you know that you don't actually know how LBP imports new levels...

And then after people told you you're wrong instead of asking why you pointlessly persisted...

But don't worry, there are plenty of PC people that are like that too, i was just commenting on the reason why console people use the word Elitist instead of something that's more of an insult like "slave" or "bot" etc.

As i stated before, console fanboys are just the latest incarnation of the old, mostly FPs based, proto-bro gamer PC people... except that now it's about hardware instead of software...

(assuming mod support from the devs, some games make it way too complicated).
But even then 'way too complicated' isn't the same as 'impossible'. The obsessed yet skillful will always find a way... they're like software crackers in that way (and often use very similar methods when mod support in not only unsupported but a nightmare to untangle).
I meant too complicated to install and un-install mods, with the un-installing part being the one that is the real problem (screw up the back-up files? too bad, clean install pls).

Anyone who thinks one is superior to the other is full of it.
I'm an elitist bastard, but I ain't full of it.

Way I see it, the PC platform can let you sit back on a couch, with a wireless controller and a 42"-2560x1440, but added to that you get all the other functionality it provides.

I'll give you that it can be more expensive, but if you're European and buy more than 18 games a month, you can easily self-build a good PC, and keep it updated, for less cash than you save by buying for PC instead of Console.

And no, building your own PC does not require a massive amount of knowledge. Google is your friend, and YouTube exists for a reason. Plenty of places to get free quality assistance.

There's only one thing that a Console lets you do that PCs don't do, which is split-screen play.

The PC is perfectly capable of it though.
Who buys 18 games a month?! I can't even afford one game a month!

WHAT HAVE I BECOME!!?
this thread has transformed my internet manners in the direction of abominable somewhat.
i am sorry.
I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about the poster.

Why couldn't he have just said, I prefer console to PCs, here's why I do, now tell me why you don't, or why you agree.

Or something.
the poster seems to have either been fishing for views, or is just someone who genuinely doesnt realise why Microsoft will rip you off any chance it gets. (i realise my OS is microsoft, but i'm only getting ripped off for one disk. instead of all of them.)

No worries.

When you're not adding in any new assets (like custom models or textures) most mods are fairly small, basically being textfile instruction sets for the game engine on how to lay things out and what rules they operate under. Everything needed is already on your machine, so the game just needs to be told what, how much, and where to put it all.

Oh, this should be fun. Safely tucked in my flameproof suit, I shall give you a few reasons.
1: Mods. It's easier to make, distribute, and play them on PC.
2: You probably already have a PC.
3: DLC is less of a pain in the ass, especially with services like steam.
4: You can be doing a million things at once on your PC as you game.
I'm sure others will have more and better reasons than I do, this is just what comes to mind for me. Enjoy your flamebait mod wrath.

Captcha: Apartheid; ielct. Captcha supports racism. Who would have guessed?
I would say number 3 is incorrect, they're at least equal. With a console, I can just click on PSN, click on the game and then buy any DLC it has, some even have a section on the main menu option for purchasing DLC, with the Blops map pack I never even had to leave the game.

Mods are probably one of the biggest non-personal preference reasons. The PS3 actually can support mods, it's just that no games allow it...

That's why God (or possibly coders) gave us custom installers and uninstallers for mods. :D

And also why we always put our backup files in a seperate folder.

And it's funny that as a PC gamer i find the "Press Start" screen to annoy me as too much time wasted... i guess turning on the PC while i do something else around the house is just second nature already.

Wait, wait, wait... the game makes no local copy of the level? That's lame...

Hey dude its fine, don't worry about it, yeh it is pretty lame it doesn't let you play levels offline, but i think its to stop people copying and republishing levels
