the point i am trying to make (not doing a very good job at it) is that i am amazed that it has become normal for some to assault you for waving your hand
Do you even read what you write? You just said you acted "retarded" (driving negligently, honking at people for no reason, making insulting gestures) and you find it shocking that someone tried to kick your ass? Oh no, what a horrible world we live in, where people are accountable for their own actions and behaviour.

So i was almost attacked today.
I was driving in my car pretty fast when the driver in front of me stopped at a crossing in order to let a guy cross the road. i was pissed so i honked once. the guy who was walking started yelling at me. i made a gesture for "pshh" (pretty dumb on my part i know) and the guy just flipped started running towards my car yelling for me to get out. obviously i didn't and started driving when i could but he was close enough to kick the car.

What kind of a fucked up world do we live on that someone can turn violent from a hand gesture from a guy he does not know in a car across the road.

So escapist... what do you think?
Well I'm not sure about the Escapist but you sound like a real (insert insult here). I guy shows common courtesy and stops to let a fellow human being cross the road, and you and your boy racer mentality got p*ssed off at being slowed down for what about 30 seconds at most! So you show your d*ckishness and start blazing away on your horn and then you wonder why somebody got annoyed at you. You deserved everything you got and you deserved more. Its not a race, and show people some god damn consideration once in your pathetic life.

I'm sorry man, but the world does not love you personally. Especially when you bring up the whole thing.
It wouldn't have happened in the first place if you hadn't been such an idiot and honked. I mean, what kinda move is that?
He had more of a right to get mad at you!

Oh, ya, and I forgot to mention.
IT'S A LAW TO YIELD TO THEM.

Personally I think its your fault, you initiated the situation and pushed the guy.

Anyway, similar story, i almost got into a fight at the gas station cause the guy was beinga dick. I had finished filling my car and he was right up against me. but the person in front of me had an longer then average car and made it so I couldnt really move forward to pull out. sO I signaled the guy behind me to move back, he refused and told me to go and started honking, so I got out and told him to move back and he said for me to make him, casually moving his hand to show he had a knife in the car, to which I pulled out my knife (which was so much bigger then his) and said thats not a smart idea, cause youre still stuck in that car.

... but the situation resolved itself when the person inf ront of me finished filling nad left, so I got in my car and left Though I'll admit, its probably more my fault then his.

Man i'm a terrible story teller.

1) i didn't know why the guy stopped when he did
2)driving pretty fast = speed limit +5ish

So what some of you are saying is that's its ok to assault someone for an insulting hand gesture?
What we're saying is if you're going to be a dick people aren't going to just take it. They'll probably kick your ass.

Also you didn't notice a crosswalk one car ahead of you? Pay more attention and don't be a dick. For others safety as well as your own.

"b)He DID kick my car, hard, and if i had not drove away when i did he could have done more."

Your car's not in this thread crying about it with a title that suggests that somehow the world or the country is in such a sad state that the car can't bear to be in it any more.

Seriously.

STOP playing the victim here. You're one lane away from vehicular manslaughter.

Don't fucking tell me your shit don't stink cause your head is so far up your ass over this that you should be an expert.

But honking your horn is just rude if your not going to be patient why would you expect him to be patient with dip-shittery?

I'm going to go with the people that say you deserved it.

Are you that impatient that when someone stops for a good reason, that you are one of those types that blast the horn because you think where you are going is more important than letting somebody have right of way.

I don't know what the driving laws are in Israel, but here in the US, pedestrians always have right of way, meaning: If there is a pedestrian who is at the edge of the road ready to cross, you have to let him cross.

Plus, if you hit a pedestrian because you didn't stop to let that person cross and they crossed anyway, because they know they have right of way, you would be at fault. It doesn't matter if the pedestrian saw that you weren't going to stop.

And if you incited the assault via an insult then its your fault and unsurprising you were assaulted.

But you din't even get assaulted, not even close.
I personally believe that the only reason to raise a hand at someone is self defense. i can't imagine being set off by a gesture, i really cant.
The point of a gesture like that is to piss someone off....you're confused because it worked? If you're not ready to fight someone who pissed you off to the point of honking and making lude gestures, then I suggest you don't say or do anything next time. Can't stand ppl who think they can get away with shit just cause they are in a car and wouldn't stand up like a man to back up their actions.

The other driver was being courteous and let him cross the road, then you pull up and start acting like a righteous asshole then flip him off. I think he was justified.

People who act like you on the road should not be allowed to own cars, period.

And yes, you deserved it. You would have deserved the punch in the face you very nearly got. You were putting people in danger, then you were being offensive and disrespectful. I wouldn't have felt any sympathy for you if you'd been punched after either of those things on their own, let alone both.

I think that you should not have done that. Both the honking and the hand gesture were uncalled for. It's a crosswalk. People cross the street on it. Suck it up, and don't piss of anymore people who didn't do anything wrong.

Um...didn't you start this nonsense by showing your anger at another driver for not running over a pedestrian?

I guess by "almost attacked," you mean that someone very nearly kicked your car with a sandal. Why are we so spoonfed that we take to the internet to spread our hyperbolic melodrama anytime someone slights us?
a)The way i acted was retarded that is true.
b)He DID kick my car, hard, and if i had not drove away when i did he could have done more.

the point i am trying to make (not doing a very good job at it) is that i am amazed that it has become normal for some to assault you for waving your hand- that is what i did btw not "flipped him off" as more the one person described it.

A lot of the posters say i deserve it because provoked him. this is a grown man we are talking about not the neighbor's dog
I should edit this into my previous post, but whatever.

I do not understand how exactly you think you are in the right here. You did NOTHING right. I drive fast sometimes (ok, pretty much all of the time), but I actually have courtesy and respect for other people, even ones I don't know. If you had honked at me, then made a rude gesture, you can be damn sure that I, or anyone else for that matter, would be pissed at you. You don't get special treatment because you're in a car. Quit acting like you're entitled to something when you're the one who's acting like a dumbass.

So let me see if I understand this.

A man tried to do a good deed by allowing a man to cross the street and you choose to be impatient by honking your horn, the man crossing the street decided to defend the man and told you not to act like that...Then you just went 'pssh', choosing to disrespect him and ignore everything he had to say. He decided to get violent and you decided not to back up your attitude. Seems like a logical turn of events. While the man may not have shouldn't have acted violently, you really were the first to push him to that.

He didn't snap at you because you gave him a hand gesture, he snapped because you disrespected him and chose to ignore all the things he had to say. First rule of driver's ed buddy, don't be an aggressive driver.
