Well then I've got good news for you: the new reboot has a sense of humour that has absolutely no connection to that of the original.

The original is loved not because of the concept of four guys hunting ghosts, it's because it was Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in a comedy hunting ghosts.

The new movie doesn't use anything reflecting the sense of humour the originals did, instead opting for the more generic "this is literally every modern comedy" type of humour. It's the reason why the reception has been near universally negative by fans and general audiences.
Yeah I saw the trailer. Still meh.

Something more of this tone would of gotten me in the theater:
It's a movie about fighting ghosts. Motherfuck the comedy, it can't be duplicated, but it could be made cool as fuck. (And so Edgy!)

A rectal exam is a rectal exam, whether they only use the 2 foot scope to check the entrance, or literally go the whole 9 yards.
Having been down that road, I beg to differ.
As someone who has a massive family history of colon cancer (Well, actually, just cancer in general), and who's just one year away from the 'You have to get anally searched 10 years earlier then everyone else' birthday, this is a thing I did not want to hear.

But honestly, I'd rather read how the original wasn't good than more of the complaining that started before we had any information about the movie at all.
I'll give you that.

Whoops! I mean...it's no big thing, it's going to be alright. Ignore the crazy lady who commented before, she clearly didn't know anything about it.

I'll give you that.
Merci.

I mean, I disagree with the premise of the thread. I loved the original movie, and it's one of the few 80s flicks I will still genuinely watch unironically. I mean, there are some damn funny 80s movies, and most of them aren't comedies. But still, it beats this...whatever's been going on since the announcement.

Watched it about a year ago, I was excited cause I heard all good things and man was I disappointed. I mean it's okay. I certainly don't see what all the fuss is about, Bill Murray has done better work.
Then don't go see it.

If I had the money I'd probably go see the new one, just to throw money at something that annoyed a bunch of nerd dudes.
I'm not petty.
Nerd dudes? Are these the people whom have legitimate complaints your referring to or did I miss something?
You missed something. It was an outcry of butthurt nerd dudes claiming feminazi's are molesting their childhood by making this movie.
That's not a legitimate complaint. And that's the kind of thing I like to throw money at if I can afford it.

While I'm sure it drew in a whole host of people like that (just as I'm sure it drew in people who staunchly defended it because it), I doubt that was the majority or even 5% of the outcry. You didn't see people lose their shit over the recent Star Wars: Rogue One trailer because it's headed by a female lead. Not to mention The Force Awakens, where the biggest outcry against the female lead was that she was kind of a Mary Sue.

The rage over the new Ghostbusters trailer is simply fans fearing Hollywood would vommit all over a beloved classic by making a reboot/remake nobody asked for, and then being proven correct with the reveal of one of the most Godawful trailers in existence.

I'm really happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but-

I kinda did see people losing their shit about Rogue One. Seriously, simply google 'Rogue One, female protagonist'.

Maybe I just hang out in different parts of the internet than others, but seeing dudes crying over lady characters isn't something new or special.

And then being told that they don't hate it because it's awful in every possible way, but because of soggy knees.

Note though how it says "the majority of the internet reacted with a collective wow, that was a fantastic trailer". You can't avoid someone somewhere blowing their top over something. I'm sure there were people that got pissed at the fact Zootopia had a female lead, but they're made pretty much invisible by the amount of people who thought it was a great movie, or the people who didn't like it and brought up non-gender related reasons as to why. Mad Max: Fury Road had that one guy/site who made a big stink over Furiosa, while everyone else was losing their minds over how good the actual movie was.

The collective bile that was brought forth by the new Ghostbusters has little to do with man children being upset about women getting their lady bits all over their toys, and more (if not everything) with it looking like an Adam Sandler production. And when the spirit of Adam Sandler starts infecting something like Ghostbusters or Back to the Future, then you can bet your ass people are gonna get really pissed off.

Okay and all, but that's not what I was talking about. I said, I wasn't talking about legitimate complaints, I was talking about the people who were being pissy manbabies. Pointing out that not everyone who hates it hates it because they're manchildren, like... I know. I didn't say that. And I only linked to the Rogue One thing because you said that I didn't see people getting shitty over it, when I did.

I'm not gonna see the new Ghostbusters because it looks like generic Hollywood Comedy. Could even have a bunch of guys or even poodles and I still wouldn't see it.

Because I hate Hollywood Comedy movies.

Like most things from the 80's: you had to see it DURING the 80's in order to gain the appreciation for it that other fans had. Watching it now: some of the magic is lost.

Personally I'm not going to see the new one because it looks fucking stupid and absolutely unentertaining.

Oh, I'm sorry, what am I saying: I'm not going to see it because I'm a sexist pig who hates women and wishes it was still the 1950's. Because that's clearly the only reason someone could be uninterested in this movie, right?

Do you enjoy being wrong? A ghostbusters movie starring only poodles would be awesome!
