While as has been pointed out the "Black sheep" thing is naught but a fabrication, far too many people are so easily offended.

Even on this forum people go nuts over tiny little comments (not referring to my probation), blunt speaking (one of my former suspensions) and words of annoyance (NOW I'm talking about my probation).
One of the worst I've seen on this particular forum was shortly after I'd joined but before I started posting all that much:
Another user had started a discussion thread about all the "niggling little problems in (Presumably games, but I can't remember)" Nearly the entirety of the first two pages were posters calling him a racist and stating that they were reporting him, he got suspended for racism. What.The.FUCK?!
I mean I'd heard stories of reactionary morons reacting as though every word said is offensive but I'd never seen it like that before, it was even long standing members of the community making this stupid mistake, no I hesitate to call it stupid, calling it retarded would be a grievous insult to the mentally impaired, this was truly something else.

I don't know if the suspension was removed or even if half the posters were serious but the fact that someone could get suspended for the word "niggling" speaks volumes about people's stupidity.

On a related note, Australia used to have drop crocodiles which would jump out at prey walking underneath, but they ended up going back to the ground. I'm not sure if humans had evolved by then, but it's still pretty cool.

Not exactly. The Daily Telegraph is embarassingly half-arsed, but Fox "News" isn't trying to present news, it's trying to engineer political and social change.

While I don?t know about NSW I can assure you it hasn?t been changed here in Queensland.

Apparently, it was changed in one or two child care centres in far north Queensland, and that's it.

I would just like to point out that the guy in your video is incorrect. He says that most Americans ancestors were "legal immigrants". I'm afraid they were not, they were invaders and destroyed an entire culture in order to realise their American dream. They were far worse that illegal immigrants as, rather than being inferior in numbers and fire power to the natives, they marched in with superior weaponry and wiped out the majority of the countries inhabitants. They were not in any way "legal".

Thanks for the correction, there are indeed drastically different cultures within Native Americans. My point is that the natives (the people who's land it was) did not agree to it, so it was against their laws.

Actually, no, the stuff about "Bah Bah black sheep" being banned in classrooms came up a few times over the last few decades, made up by various "news" agencies with agendas of their own.

Political correctness is important. Like everything else, it can, and will be implemented badly at times, but the basic idea of not disrespecting other people through ignorance or malice is an important one.

This. I've never found any anti-racism campaigner complain about Ba Ba Black Sheep, nor any school that has banned it. I have seen numerous ultra-conservative commentators blatantly make up such absurd 'examples' as a means of defaming more reasonable attempts at fighting discrimination.

There's nothing wrong with gold old politeness, and no reason to put the label 'political correctness' on basic manners. Yes, you shouldn't push past the old lady in the queue, and you shouldn't call someone a word that they find offensive, that's just basic manners. Making up absurd examples doesn't negate that.

Yeah, unfortunately almost all the large dangerous animals native to Australia were wiped out when humans first arrived, so we have to import nowdays.
