Its the Same with 'Bah Bah Black Sheep' if i said this in a classroom im a Racist.
Actually, no, the stuff about "Bah Bah black sheep" being banned in classrooms came up a few times over the last few decades, made up by various "news" agencies with agendas of their own.

Political correctness is important. Like everything else, it can, and will be implemented badly at times, but the basic idea of not disrespecting other people through ignorance or malice is an important one.
Your like a poster child for my perfect world! Well done you!

I find most of the political correctness 'gone wrong' stories have just been made up or exagerrated to cause outrage and gain support for various nationist groups that feed off it.

*facepalm* What are you talking about, and what does this have to do with rainbow sheeps and PC run amok?
And now I really need clarification: Are you for or against sourcing anecdotes when using them in a class assignment?
Actually, I made a post earlier about the actual issue and then made a further post about what you said. so eh.

In regards to your clarification, what do you want clarified?
Am I for people using examples that happened as proof of their argument? Of course.

Do I feel that quoting a famous philosopher and using that AS proof of an argument as duplicitous? yes.

Although at the minute, I'm pretty sure in this argument, nobody has any idea what we're arguing about.

From what I've gathered, everyone on this thread is arguing about 5 different things completely parallel to one another. So it's basically every flamebait thread.

Unfortunately, the stipulation of using examples that actually happened is that they have to have actually happened. You can't be told nothing of the sort has ever happened and have your response be "Well... stuff like it happens anyway! You know it and I know it!" (People use that a lot when talking about frivolous law suits.)

I would say its like an elitist flamebait thread, we might be arguing, but atleast we're specifically arguing.

And maybe its just my science background, but I like being able to trace the 'examples of actually happened' thing back to its source, for me, the fact that example existed in reality is far more compelling than the pretend case of Joe X who fell down a 'potential' hole in a 'potential' floor which was 'potentially' wet.

Reminds me too much of quantum physics and all that Casimir/Heisenberg stuff.

With the general level of discussion that's been going on here, I wouldn't call it elitist exactly.

Illegal aliens = Undocumented citizens

This is just getting stupider and stupider

I hope the Earth facepalms itself and wipes out the people who keep doing this in the process.

Was that even remotely necessary? I cannot fathom how someone who believes they are intellectually superior (whether in one topic or many), needs to resort to insults.

The stench of maturity on the internet. My day is complete.

There was this "scandal" in Sweden a couple of years ago. A new brand of ice cream was launched, with the name Nogger Black. It was a variation of the regular ice cream called Nogger (ice cream with nougat filling), but with the adjective Black added because it would be with a liquorice coat instead of regular chocolate coating.

Well...people freaked out and made a huge mess out of it, calling it a racist ice cream.
Why?
Because were the vowel O to be switched with I, it would spell out the N-word.

Now here's the funny thing. This happened in Sweden. Nogger with an I is an english word. In Swedish, the n-word is Neger.

This just doesn't make sense.
I hate PC.

And yet, at the end of the day, you're still wrong, and clearly have no desire to be otherwise. ^_^ Like Beck and the rest of them, you prefer to base your beliefs around pithy anecdotes and catchy slogans. Think with the heart, G.
(Honestly, the kind of nonsense that is tolerated on these boards is staggering.)

Rather than tell me I'm wrong, and make pathetic attempts to insult me, perhaps you could elaborate? I pride myself on expanding my knowledge and correct things I am misinformed about. Your assumption that I've no desire change my opinion is more uninformed than anything I've said here.
If you knew me at all, which being a forum in which I've had no extended interactions with anybody, you do not, you'd know that my beliefs are not based on anecdotes, slogans or anything other such thing. And everything I do is based around logic, not what I may or may not feel in my heart.
Further more, if you don't like how the boards are moderated, leave. It's that simple.

Glenn Beck did rape and murder a young girl in 1990 you know.......
Waitwaitwait, do you have a credible source to prove this? Not that I'm trying to defend Glenns name (quite frankly I hate the *******) or anything but I would prefer if you were to prove this to me.

More important than that, in my opinion, is the elimination of the ridiculous self-important fantasy so many people seem to desperately cling to, and the reason why a lot of the political correctness outcries occur.

To put it simply, no one has the right to never be offended. If you are offended by something, that is not legitimate grounds to ban its use.

I will agree that political correctness is important, insofar as it overlaps with common decency, but as soon as it is used to attempt to ban/outlaw/regulate something, it crosses the line.

people use to consider it Racist to say 'Black Sheep'

Its Rainbow Sheep now
Fuck that shit. Black sheep are rare and considered valuable. Humans aren't black, they're shades of brown and creamy colours.

Black sheep also exist.

i have no idea who Glen Beck is i just thought what he said was a bit accrete.
Well just a heads up, not only is the black sheep thing a fabrication as others have pointed out, Glenn Beck happens to be known for being a complete lunatic. So in the future you should probably not use him as a source if you want to look credible. The guy is completely mad, thinks the world is going to end and that hes basically a prophet.
Also don't expect anyone outside the USA to take Glenn Beck seriously. In fact most people will probably assume, as I did, that he's a liberal satireist making FUN of the right wingers.

Great work jackass, I was gunna convince him its something we do in british schools which involves running at each other with javalins. Its character building.
Sorry, I just got so excited about teaching someone about something so purely British :)

Not as good as the Australian Dropbears, but still:
oh bloody hell, are they real?
I read about them in a Pratchett book and assumed they were made up. Are they?
Fact.

100% undeniable fact. Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying. They have two thumbs on each hand!

But they sleep over 20 hours a day on average so don't worry too much.

Also, they never drink water!

People will try to convince you that they're harmless but they all work in tourism and need you lot to come over here. It's like the people who say "don't worry about the snakes, they're only in the desert!"
What about the coastal taipan? 3rd most deadly snake[footnote]source[/footnote] in the world!

But yes, Drop bears exist.
